Hello Ron,

Great question!

The Swagman Swivel Hitch Extender – Dual Side Swing-Away Adapter # S86SR is designed for hitch-mounted accessories only and is not intended for towing a trailer.

It has a 300 lb maximum tongue weight capacity, which refers to the downward force from an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, not a towing or trailer weight rating.

What are you trying to tow, and why would you need the swivel extender? I am just trying to better understand your set-up to see if there is something else I can recommend.

Good morning Kara, I have it set up on my truck camper with my BBQ and generator, so I can swing it out during camping. I just wanted to know if it could or if I have to take it off to tow my 16' flatbed with a Can-Am on it. Other than tgat ive been happy with the product, and Etrailer! Thanks for your quick response!

@RonF I have the same setup and it’s pretty sturdy . I wouldn’t risk towing your car and trailer with it attached. Doesn’t seem like it’s designed for anything beyond a bike or equipment rack.. I always remove it to tow my boat with my cab over camper.
