Ellen: Hey, everyone! I'm Ellen, here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Taylor Made gas strut. This measures 26 inches long, and has 80 pounds of force. So, it'll help you to lift a heavy door, or have that stay in place while you're getting in there and maybe doing some maintenance to your boat, or just need to open that door to get in and access to your compartment or storage area. So, it's going to keep everything open as you need it, and then closed down tight whenever you don't.It measures 26 inches if we go from about the bottom of the attachment point on that ball socket to the same spot on the other side. So, the total length is about 27 inches. If we go from the very center of that attachment point to about the same spot on the other side, it looks like it's about 26 inches.
So, there is a little bit of play with that. Both of these ends are threaded, so you can get that angle dialed in or get it turned the direction that you need it to be. So, there might be a little bit of play. You can extend it out just a little bit more than that 26 1/2 inches from center to center. This is a 10 millimeter ball socket connection type.Again, the compression force is 80 pounds. You do just get the single strut.
It doesn't have a measurement on how short it will be when it's compressed, and I can't do that just by hand. But if I had to guess, if we measure from about here to that connection point, it's about 16 inches, giving a little bit of room for that ball socket to come down. So, I would say that's about the minimum that it will go down, is about 16 inches. No more than that.It is a heat-treated steel construction, so it's going to be nice and durable. And it is covered with a corrosion-resistant coating, so it shouldn't rust even if you're using this in a saltwater application. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Taylor Made marine gas strut for your boat hatch.
I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right one for you. We do have other sizes and compression ratings here at etrailer.com. So, if you need something a little bit different, we should have you covered. Thanks for watching.
