Note: Always replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most trunk lids have a strut on each side. Failure to replace both struts can result in a warped or damaged hinge.
Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your trunk lid stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your trunk lid to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Now, this is going to replace one worn or damaged ball and socket gas truck for your vehicle's trunk lid. And this has been designed to fit your 1994 to 2004 Ford Mustang. So, the dampening technology is going to give you smooth operation that eliminates bouncing or jumping. That's going to ensure frictionless movement in all weather conditions. The arm, obviously, as you know, extends to hold your trunk lid open and then gently compresses while closing. The nylon ball and socket connectors are gonna install directly to your existing original equipment manufacturer fittings. The nitride-coated steel shaft is corrosion-resistant for longer-lasting performance.
You are gonna get this one lift support and the extended length measuring on center. The ball socket's there, so lining that up as best as I can. Looks like we're sitting right at about 19 1/8 inches on center, and then that's the extended length. The compressed length is gonna be 11 1/16 inches, and it's always a good idea to replace your struts in pairs where applicable. Some trunk lids do have a strut on each side, and failure to replace both struts at the same time could possibly result in a wart or damaged hinge on your trunk.
