Features to know about

Built for 12V Fueling Where You Need It

Fill-Rite 12V fueling

When your equipment it out on the field or jobsite, fueling goes smoother when the pump and tank goes there too. This Fill-Rite fuel transfer pump runs on a 12V DC motor, so you can wire it to a 12V battery power source and fuel where you work.

Wiring and Mounting Flexibility for Real Install Space

Fill-Rite kit

The pump includes 18' of 12-gauge power wire and a 5' ground wire to help you reach your power source without piecing together extra wire on day one. The adjustable electrical junction box rotates 180 degrees, which helps when your mounting position forces the wiring to face a certain direction.

Thermal Protection Helps Prevent Overheating

Fuel transfers can turn into longer runs than you planned. The motor is thermal protected to help prevent overheating, which helps protect the pump when you are working through a longer fueling routine.

Rotary Vane Pump for Reliable Fuel Flow

This pump uses rotary vane technology to deliver consistent performance for your day-to-day fueling. With a 20 GPM flow rate, it is a solid match for fueling tanks in the 20-80 gallon range without turning each fill into a wait.

Suction Pipe and Hose Setup That Fits Common Drums and Tanks

Fill-Rite telescoping suction pipe with person for scale Fill-Rite intake holes near bottom

The standard 2" bung mount works with many fuel tanks and drums. The telescoping steel suction pipe adjusts from 20" to 34-1/2", and has holes on either side near the bottom so it doesn't seal against the floor of the drum. That helps reduce the amount of sediment pulled from the bottom of the tank. The included 12' 1" hose has a static ground wire to help reduce static buildup while you transfer fuel.

Cleaner Fuel Going In

A built-in mesh strainer filters out larger particles and contaminants before they move through the pump. That small step up front can help protect your equipment and keep your fueling routine running smoother.

Manual Nozzle with Diesel Identification

Fill-Rite diesel nozzle

The cast aluminum manual nozzle gives you hands-on control at the tank. The green cover helps indicate it is set up for auto diesel fuel, and the nozzle boot attaches to the pump body so you have a place to stow it between fills.

Fuel Compatibility for the Fluids You Move

Run it with the common fluids you're already pumping: diesel, gasoline, ethanol blends up to E15, biodiesel blends up to B20, kerosene, and mineral spirits.

Switch Gear Built for Repeated Use

Fill-Rite switch

The on-off switch lever includes a metal stopping arm for longer use, so you can run the pump, shut it down, and move to your next task without babying the controls.

  • Does The Fill-Rite Manual Fluid Transfer Pump Require Lots Of Effort To Pump Fluid?
Good afternoon George; no it usually does not! The Fill-Rite Piston Fluid Pump # FR53XQ uses a hand lever with a double piston design and moves 20 gallons per 100 strokes, which means fewer cycles to move the same fuel compared to the rotary crank version # FR98XQ. It’s fully manual, but the higher output per stroke helps reduce how long you’re pumping. The wooden handle also stays comfortable in hot or cold weather. If you prefer a cranking motion instead of a lever stroke, the rotary...

  • Solution For Adding Diesel Fuel Transfer Pump To Tank On Bed Of Service Truck Powered By 12V Battery
Hello Brent, for a truck-mounted tank without AC / generator power, the Fill-Rite 12V Pump Kit # FR35XQ is exactly what you want. It runs off a 12V DC battery connection and includes 18' of 12-gauge power wire and a 5' ground wire, so you’ve got flexibility in mounting. If you don't have 12v wires there, it wouldn't be difficult to run wires from one of your truck's 12V batteries, or even get a bed-mounted battery like # 34276285 and charge it off the truck or with solar. The pump itself...

  • Comparing Fill-Rite Fuel Transfer Pumps - Manual Pump VS Electric Pump
Hey there Sam, for smaller transfers like 10 gallons at a time, the manual pumps would be perfectly adequate. The Fill-Rite rotary style fuel transfer pump # FR98XQ gives you controlled output at 10 gallons per 100 rotations, and the hand pump style # FR53XQ doubles that per cycle at 20 per 100 pumps. Electric models like the # FR35XQ 20 GPM and # FR75XQ 15 GPM are ideal when you’re fueling often or filling larger tanks and want to save time and effort. If it’s occasional use and no power...

  • What is the difference between fill-rite fuel transfer pump models 20 gpm 35gpm ?
Hey Scott, here’s the breakdown of a few popular fill-rite fuel transfer pump models: • # FR35XQ 12V DC – 20 GPM • # FR75XQ 115V AC – 15 GPM • # FR43XQ 115/230V AC – 35 GPM The 35 gallons per minute model is built for larger tanks and higher-volume fueling. It also includes the built-in meter, which the other two do not. If you’re fueling multiple vehicles or larger 100+ gallon tanks, the 35 GPM model significantly cuts down transfer time. I see this being useful with trucking companies...

  • Solution For Pumping Diesel Fuel From 55 Gallon Drum In Shop To Fuel Up Tractors And Equipment
Hi Harold, with a 55-gallon drum in the shop, you’ve got a few good options depending on whether you have power available. If you want to keep it simple and fully manual, the Fill-Rite Manual Piston Pump Kit # FR53XQ is a solid choice. It’s hand-operated with a double piston design and moves 20 gallons per 100 strokes, so it transfers fuel faster per cycle than a rotary-style manual pump. It mounts to a standard 2" bung, includes an 8' hose with static ground wire, and the suction tube...

  • How Long Can Fill-Rite 12V Battery Powered Fuel Transfer Pump Run Without Overheating?
Good afternoon Matt, the Fill Rite 20gpm fuel transfer pump # FR35XQ has a 30-minute on / 30-minute off duty cycle. It’s also thermally protected, meaning the motor helps guard against overheating during extended use. It’s designed for regular intermittent fueling, not continuous commercial pumping all day. It does run off 12V DC power, not AC power. About how many gallons are you typically transferring at a time? If it's quite a bit, you may be better off upgrading to a heavier duty...

Mark, great question - the color is for identification, not a mechanical limitation. The Fill-Rite # FR75XQ 115V 15 GPM includes a red-covered manual nozzle to clearly mark it for auto unleaded setups. The # FR35XQ 12V 20 GPM includes a green-covered manual nozzle typically used for diesel identification.
