Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A16 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A16 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

R16 Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' and 6-1/2' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Non-Binding Design

The round-tube design of this slider allows for relatively uninhibited movement of your fifth-wheel hitch. Because your hitch can glide smoothly and easily along the rods, there is less chance of binding.

With straight, flat contact points, as found with square-tube sliders, tension can build between the slider and the hitch when your truck and trailer are somewhat out of line or are on uneven ground. As a result, it can be difficult to properly activate the slider when your truck and trailer are not in a straight line.

With a round-tube slider, there is more give between the contacting surfaces, allowing better mobility of the hitch system. Fewer corners means less tension buildup. Activating a round-tube slider is easier, and operation as a whole is smoother.

Curt rebranded this fifth-wheel trailer hitch by changing its name from Q16 to A16 in 2016. All features and specifications remained the same.

Video Transcript for Curt Fifth Wheel - Sliding Fifth Wheel - C16521 Review

Today we're going to review part number C16521. This is the Curt Q16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch on the Curt R16 Slider. This hitch is a dual jaw design. Has a 16,000 lb weight capacity. For demonstration purposes I do already have this mounted on the base rails and the mounting brackets just to give you an idea what this would be like installed in your truck bed. The base rails and the brackets would be sold separately.

This hitch is a 2 jaw locking system which will help provide a 360 degree jaw to kingpin contact right here. Gives you less rattle, more security than a slide bar model. Again, for demonstration, I have a replica of a kingpin installed in here and you can see the dual jaw wrapped around it. On the back of this hitch head there is a 3 point color code indicator system. This color coding will tell you if the hitch is ready to uncouple, couple, or tow and basically you can see these colors right here when you're in the cab of your truck.

They are visible from the cab. The head on this is a fully articulating torsion head. It's for controlled coupling, stable quiet ride. It does move side to side and front to back. It is cushioned also for a nice smooth ride. The slider that it's mounted on is a non-binding slider and this will provide clearance which is required for short bed pickups to turn safely at slow speeds and that will help prevent the trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during those sharp, slow speed turns.

It slides smoothly on these rounded, non-binding rods and these are designed for use on trucks with beds shorter than 8'. It's not recommended for use on truck beds that are shorter than 6'. The lockable handle right here, you can see, let's you easily secure the trailer to the hitch and it comes with this pin and clip. It is also large enough that you could put a padlock through there if you want additional security. The padlocks would be sold separately.

It is a very short throw, single hand operation. The self aligning head will pivot for simple hookup. It does have 3 lube points on it for easy access to the grease fittings. You can remove this head by itself. In one piece it would be pretty heavy for 1 person to do, but to help you remove it, basically, it's a 2 pin head removal system. If you pop off this lynch pin right up here in front, I'll just show you, slide that out and then this pivot pin right here you can pull out. That 1 pivot pin, this large pivot pin, will pull out. That will allow you to lift that head out with a cross member and you can take the cross member out and then the slider. Let's go ahead and put the lynch pin back in here. There we go. It does come with this included plastic lube plate that you put on your kingpin of your fifth wheel, helps it glide smoothly onto the hitch during hookup. It also includes the pins and clips right here that you attach this to the rails, and it also includes these rubber, there's 4 rubber sound dampeners. They have a little slot in them. Basically, what you would do with these is where the slider drops down onto the rails, there's tabs on it, this would go where the tab is and it will give you a rubber dampener between the slider and the rails. It helps eliminate any rattles or noise. It does have a 4" height adjustment. Let me turn this a little bit just to show you. If you look on the side cross member right here, on the cross member itself there is a range of 3 holes so you can move those holes up or down to give you a 4" height adjustment. Basically that will get you, for your particular application, you want your hitch head measurement from your truck bed to the top of the hitch head to be a certain measurement so this will give you a range of anywhere from 17 1/2" to 21 1/2". As I mentioned, the base rails, the mounting kits are sold separately. This will work on industry standard rails made by Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Pro Series, Reese, and Valley. We do recommend on the mounting brackets to make installation easier to use a vehicle specific or a custom fit bracket kit and the reason we do that is, it's not available in all applications, what I'd recommend is on our website put in your year and model vehicle and see if there is a custom, vehicle specific bracket kit. If there is it cuts the installation time about in half because the brackets right here that go to the frames will already have holes drilled in it to line up with holes in your truck frame. Saves you a lot of time when compared to a universal bracket kit. This is a sturdy steel construction, has a durable carbide powder coat finish. Again, the specs on it, gross towing weight capacity is 16,000 lbs. Vertical load limit or pin weight capacity is 4,000 lbs. The slider does move 12" front to back for extra clearance and again, the height adjustment goes anywhere from 17 1/2" to 21 1/2". First I want to show you how this kingpin would go into the hitch. Let's go ahead and remove the pin and clip and then what you can do is, to uncouple it you just pull this handle out and move it towards the cab of tow vehicle and it will slide out the kingpin. Then you can see it's ready to couple. I'm going to turn it around. I mentioned those 3 point color code indicator system. We spin this around, you'll be able to see it on the back of the head right here. Right now, with the kingpin out, you can see yellow is showing, that means it's ready to be coupled. It also shows you green, When that green shows there it means it's ready in the tow position. If it shows red it's uncoupled. You don't want to go anywhere. Just to show you, I'm going to slide this kingpin in and when I do that you'll see that it changes. That color you can see from your cab would be green now. The handle's slid up, locked into position and you just drop your pin and clip through, lock it and your ready to go or you put a padlock through there if you want to. On the slider itself, it is the same way. It does have color coding. You can see over here, the green indicator. When this is showing means it's ready to tow, so it's in the locked towing position. Over here, if the red would show, that means it's not ready to tow and basically I just want to show you how you would do that. Here's your handle for your slider. You just pull this out. Let's spin it back around so we have the right positioning, not to confuse you. If we spin this around where this is where I'm standing would be the cab of your tow vehicle and that would be the back of your truck. If you want to put it into maneuvering position, you want to slide it back to the tailgate to gain more clearance when you're doing sharp turns, what you'll do is pull out on this slider handle and when you do that you just turn it a little bit to counterclockwise position. It moves that tab to the front. What that will allow you to do is when you go into maneuver position you can see the hitch will slide and when it reaches the full 12", it will lock into position. Then, when you're done maneuvering and you're ready to get on the road to tow, all you want to do is same way, pull this out but just turn it clockwise this time. Move the tab towards the tow vehicle. With it that way, then when you're pulling away it would slide into the towing position, moves it closer to the cab of your tow vehicle, boom, locks into position. The green shows here and nothing over here. That should do it for the review on part number C16521, the Curt Q16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch, on the Curt R16 Slider, with a 16,000 lb weight capacity. .

Beware if purchasing this hitch and oem prep rails. Good smooth head. But with oem rail system from curt you will not get the hitch head adjusted low enough. Description states 17-1/2” low but with rails lowest is 20-1/2”. Had to buy different head. 576373

I have only used the hitch on one short trip but at this point I am very happy with it. Shipping was fast but shipping boxes were torn open, all the parts were ok. I followed the instruction video on etrailer site and there was an error in it that took me a few minutes to work out. When installing the handle after you place the two bolts in the holes and start to put the bottom plate on the video shows putting it on upside down. I kept trying this and checking the video and it did not work, finally took it apart and looked and could see the problem. Overall very happy with everything I have ever bought from etrailer. 447726

I have had this hitch about one year now and over 5,000 miles towing. Love the hitch. It is very easy to hook up and quite when towing. So much better than the Reese I had.

I received my new hitch, slider package and puck system legs for my Ram 2500 and had it installed in about 2 hours. Backed up to my camper and connected with no problems once I got the camper king pin at the correct height. I like the overlapping jaws on this hitch much better my old hitch which didnt overlap. This just feels more secure. The hitch released and uncoupled with no problems. I'll be taking a trip with it soon and will know more about how it feels with 11,000 pounds connected to it but for now, very happy with my purchase. I cant submitt my review without adding some kudo's to etrailer and their customer service team. I had ordered a different hitch but had second thoughts as to it being a good match for my truck. One call to customer service confirmed my thoughts and i had a different system on order and delivered in 3 days. Awesome team. 488531

I received the 2500HD custom fit rail kit and A16 slider hitch very quickly which was great because we were on a time crunch to pick up our new camper. I selected this hitch and rail combination after reading all of the positive reviews. A buddy and I installed it ourselves in a few hours and could not be more happy with the fitment. We used the installation video below the product description which really helped. Etrailer was great to work with and I would definitely order from them again. We will be picking up our fifth wheel this weekend and will comment on how well it performs! 409008

All parts and materials are good quality including the paint. Directions are good, easy to follow. Packaging is not enough for the weight of the this product. Box was broken and open and some paint was scraped. Needs heavier packaging. 403400

The hitch itself is great! No issues to date. Its heavy so plan on 2 people or disassembly to install or remove it everytime. My only complaint would be that the position stickers that are on it are not weather friendly at all. They are either completely gone or faded so bad you can't read them. Not a big issue at all but I keep it inside in the winter so 3 months of use they shouldn't be that bad. 399473

My order showed up as projected. Very fast shipping. 3 good sized cartons. Pretty heavy but it is a 5th wheel hitch. Contents were in great shape and I am excited to get some good weather so I can install everything. Thanks, good service, great price and free shipping. etrailer is my go to for towing items. 470466

Overall I am impressed with the product and the service etrailer provides. The shipping was fast and the prices vs local competitors was cheaper. I actually installed the same day I received the hitch. Unfortunately my fith wheel head has a small dent in it, I would assume from shipping, and my hardware bag was ripped open scattering throughout the box. To my surprise no hardware was missing. The dent did aggravate me a little as to the price of the product, but will not effect the performance. Etrailer did double box all three packages the shipped which was nice, however I'm not sure they'll make a profit with the amount of staples used in packaging haha. Overall happy to have great reviews on great products to help aid in the decision of my purchase of the Curt slider 16k fith wheel. Fits nicely in my 2013 Silverado 2500 short bed with my fold back cover still functioning when not in use. I did find during installation that the heat shield worked best for me bent up than cut, also I did remove the wheels for easier access but not a necessity. There might need to be clarity on the hardware not being used via instructions, and on the bed rib spacers on the diagram. Very pleased with my purchase and will recommend etrailer in the future. 479630

The Curt system is really high quality. No issues at all putting the system in. One thing I do like is the position of the plate handle. It does not stick upward and is even with the plate. By designing the handle that way I can still cover my bed with my tonneau cover where other manufactures the handle was higher than the bed rail. The price was excellent and dealing with customer service was the same. 380677

Fitment was perfect in my 2012 ram 2500! The curt direct fit brackets and rails were an overly simple install! If you have 3 hours to spare and no helper this is why he way to go! Looks close to cab with a 2017 sandpiper 379FLOK but you would be surprised with the clearances of the cab to coach, very good fitment! FYI just follow retorque specs. The u-bolts bind/settle/get aligned and need another tug via torque wrench. I received my packages today and pulled my coach 180 miles after install and I’m very pleased with parts delivery time and ease of install! Thanks again etrailer for a great product 484183

Bought this a year ago needed a slider for short box ford super crew 2012 6ft. 6in. box gives me plenty of room to do a jack knife back without any problem with slider slid back . when going down the road slider slid up I can probably make a 75 degree turn with out worring about hitting the back of the cab. 383877

Wow! I ordered the products on Monday night (after 7p.m CDT) and I had the items on my property Friday afternoon! Great shipping speed which is really order processing and getting the product out so UPS could deliver it. I ordered the Curt A16, custom rails for my 2015 F250 and the Curt harness. All three items took me about 4 hours to install--mostly by myself. The install was easy, but I needed the tools that were listed in the videos--WHICH is one of the reasons I ordered from etrailer.com --the videos for installation and product research, not to mention free shipping. I researched the products for several months before ordering, no other site compares to etrailer.com...the educational product videos really helped me make a decision. Tools that are needed or at least will help make this quicker--Hydraulic jack, safety jacks, impact wrench, Electric drill, 2 1/8" hole saw for the harness plate mount, 9/16" bit, tape measure, hammer, long straight screwdriver for tapping spacers into place, some good light, and an uninterrupted afternoon in your garage. I am so glad I ordered from etrailer.com and would recommend all of these above products. THANK YOU!!! 372773

First off I just got done installing the hitch and I hooked on my 35ft fith wheel trailer and went for a ride with windows down sun roof open and not a single rattle , clank , or noise from the bed of the truck with this hitch . It was easy to assemble but I did have one spot where the paint got chipped on the slider during shipping so I just touched it up . Very satisfied with hitch it latches automatically when you back in to it and the slider part works like it should . 294820

Great hitch used it on a few trips already driven over 3,000 miles. Love the dual jaws and the adjustability, my truck sits a bit higher and I was able to adjust this down to get it where it needed to be- even with the Reese adapter plate(see photo). The polyurethane is also a nice touch, makes the ride a little more cozy then a standard hitch. Use with the provided lube plate 355598

I recently installed the Q16 Slider Hitch on my 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. I have used it a couple of times now pulling my 5th wheel and have had no issues with it at all. I used the slide feature twice and both times it worked very easily and had my truck and trailer at a 90 degree angle with plenty of room to spare. Great product, was delivered in a very timely manner with no issues. 448366

This is my first fifth wheel. I have a short bed so I got the package deal with the hitch and the slider. Took me about 5 hrs to install with the custom mounting brackets and rails for my 2015 chevy 2500 HD. Everything went as the instructions said without any issues. I have only pulled my RV with it one time just to try it out. Felt very smooth no rattles or pops as I have herd with other hitches. So far I like it a lot. 414028

The 16A hitch had a problem with a bolt holding a roller. It case out twice and the second time I reinstalled it, I apparently over tighten the bolt and it sheared off. I called etrailer who supplied me with the hitch and they had a Curt Rep send me a roller and bolt. I installed it with lock tight and no problem since. In case any engineer cares, it was the rear drivers side roller bolt.

Overall on a flat road the hitch is smooth and handles the 13,500 weight it's pulling with a 3500 HD dually diesel. Going up or down hills or stopping and starting the hitch slams back an forth with a grinding metal sound. It hits hard. We are told that's the way it was built. It seems a simple fix of some bushings or rubber stoppers would be a plus. The resale value on hitches is poor so we will keep a few years then upgrade again. 604765

Great service, great products. Along with the slide hitch I also got the rails and brackets for my truck. It was a perfect fit. The only difficulty was tightening the bolts going through the bed to the brackets. There’s only about an inch clearance. The only thing I would change would be flipping the bolts so the nuts were easy to get to in the bed. However I was afraid it would compromise strength and safety. Ordered on Monday, delivered on Wednesday. And shipping was free!!! Awesome for a nearly 300lbs shipment. 601499

The product is great! Seems solid and extremely functional. It's perfect for my short bed Ram 3500. My only concern was with the shipping of my order. As expected the packaging was literally shredded inside the boxes where the hitch parts were tumbling around. Thankfully no real damage occurred to any of parts in all three boxes. Thank you etrailer for a great product at an affordable cost. Just be aware of the damage in the shipping area. 496573

I am giving this Curt hitch 5 stars. The bed rail kit was easy to install on my 2005 GMC 2500HD. Watching the video certainly was a huge help. The hitch is solid and of good quality. I installed it in a couple evenings after work. We went and picked up our new camper that Saturday. The hitched pulled nicely, no clunking or banging was heard. And that was pulling the camper 6 hours home. Highly recommend this hitch! 494811

We love our Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch W/r16 Slider that we purchased last year through etrailer.com. This hitch is a top quality, well-made hitch. It's very easy to hitch and unhitch. We couldn't be happier. 487214

Called because a bolt holding the roller wheel broke. After the lady helping me figured out that that bolt wasn't sold separately since it was part of the roller I was figuring over $300 for a new roller assembly but she said they had one that had been used as a demo and it was only $200 with free shipping so I got it in two days. It took a good deal of time/effort as she tried to see if they bolt was somehow sold separately which was well appreciated. 485478

I ordered the Curt A16 slider hitch for my 2016 F-250 from etrailer because of not only their excellent price that beat everyone out of the water, but also their awesome customer service. I ordered my hitch and mounting kit late Monday afternoon and received it on Thursday the same week. I will definitely be purchasing all my towing needs from them in the future. When I mount the hitch I will add a picture of it. 483478

Do you have a question about this Fifth Wheel?

  • 5th Wheel Hitch With Maximum Height for Most Trailer-to-Truck Bed Rail Clearance
  • Thank you for the photo of your 2016 Ram 3500's bed rail which sits 59-inches above ground. You are correct that the recommended minimum clearance between a bed rail and the underside of the trailer's overhang is 5 to 6-inches, as shown in the linked diagram. Since your trailer sits lower than your truck you'll need some height adjustment to tow safely. By chance is your truck lifted? Lifted pickups are not ideal for 5th wheel towing for the reason you have already discovered. Even some...

  • Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch For Short Bed Truck With Rails Installed
  • The rails in your 2005 Ford F-250 with 6-3/4 foot bed are standard rails compatible with most hitches. Because you have a short bed, you will need a sliding hitch. There are a few options for you, but I'll give you a recommendation for an auto-slide and a manual sliding hitch. The reason you will need a sliding hitch is because the clearance between your truck and trailer is limited due to the short box, so you want to make sure you have the ability to turn in tight spaces without having...

  • Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for 2018 Chevy 2500 Silverado with Short Bed and Factory Pucks
  • For your 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the factory pucks, I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20K # BWRVK3770 for your short bed. This is rated higher than the 16K you needed as a minimum and is able to be installed in two pieces. It is one of our most popular sliding hitches for the factory rail kit/puck system. Another option I recommend is the Curt A16 5th Wheel Slider # C16521 along with the specific adapter...

  • How to Determine Fifth Wheel Hitch Height Setting Needed
  • You will want the hitch to be set at the height that 1) allows the trailer to be level, and 2) allows you a minimum of 6 inches between the bottom of the trailer loft and the top of the bed rails. The fifth wheel hitches offer several inches of up and down adjustment to help accomplish this. Many pin boxes are also height adjustable. To do this you will want to measure from the top of your truck bed floor to the ground and then measure from the plate of the pin box on the trailer down...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch For 2018 Ford F-150 with 6-1/2 Foot Bed
  • For your 2018 Ford F-150, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Outboard Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56034-53. This will be a custom fit that will allow you to install the brackets without drilling into your frame. Once you have the 5th wheel base rails installed, a number of different hitch options are available, but you will want a sliding hitch because you have a short bed truck. If you want a hitch that will automatically slide for you...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch For 2017 Ram 2500 With Factory Prep Package
  • For your 2017 Ram 2500 with Factory Prep package, I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16520-16021. This will allow you to have a clean bed when not in use and easily install this hitch that is capable of pulling your 13000 lb loaded trailer with MORyde pin box. You may also be interested in the 5th Wheel wiring harness # C56000, to put a second 7 way in the bed of your truck for easy accessibility. If you have...

  • Will a Reese Slider Fit Curt Rail Adapter for a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 with Factory Prep Package
  • Curt Adapter Rails # C16023 are designed specifically to work with Curt slider hitches but not any other brands so I cannot recommend using it with your Reese hitch. For a similar hitch that will work with the adapter you can use the Curt 16K slider # C16521 with dual jaws or # 16516 for a model with a slide bar jaw.

  • Do I Have to Have a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch in a Short Bed Truck
  • You do not have to use a sliding 5th wheel hitch in a short bed truck. In many cases, truck beds shorter than 8 ft do not have enough clearance between the trailer and truck to execute sharp turns. This is why sliding hitches were invented. Due to the popularity of short bed trucks, trailer manufacturers started making more 5th wheel trailers with angled or indented noses so they do not contact your truck cab when turning such as the Highland Ridge Light 5th wheel trailer. The downside...

  • Recommended Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for 2018 Ram 3500 Mega Cab Short Bed with Factory Prep Package
  • For a perfect fit in your 2018 Ram 3500 with factory rails, I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20K # BWRVK3670. This slider is an easy fit designed specifically for your truck. This hitch is made in the USA and has 12 inches of travel front to back. There are other 5th wheel hitches that will work but they require an adapter. For an auto sliding option, you can use the rail adapter # DM6099 and then hitch...

  • Recommended Truck Bed Fifth Wheel Wiring Harness For 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
  • You should find a 7-way connector at the back of your Silverado. If you do then you can simply use a harness like the Bargman Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 50-97-410. This harness plugs between the 7-way connector you have and the harness that is plugged into the back of it. You then just route the harness to the location in your truck bed you want the harness to complete the install. I have attached a link to an installation of this harness you can check out. • Is Valley Power Pull Glider 5th Wheel Hitch Compatible w/ Prep Package on 2016 Ram 3500 6 Ft Bed
  • Let's start with the Valley hitch. If your Power Pull Glider uses industry standard rails, like part # RP58058, then you could use the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter, # RP30154, to mount your Valley fifth wheel in your 2016 Ram 3500. As for a Curt hitch, I would recommend the following sliding fifth wheel hitches, # C16521 for 16K, # C16536 for 20K, and # C16546 for 24K. These sliding hitches will require the use of Adapter Rail, # C16022. The factory prep packages do not include a hitch...

  • Differences Between Curt A16 and Q16 Fifth Wheel Hitch
  • The head design is slightly different for the A16 hitch # C16521. It's the more recent version of the Q16 that you also mentioned. They made the heads strong enough to be able to be used with a Sidewinder pin box and they upgraded the warranty from 10 year limited to lifetime limited.

  • Comparing Sliding Hitch vs. Sidewinder for 40-Foot Toy Hauler Towed by 2014 Short-Bed Ram 2500
  • In your application with a roughly 40-foot toy hauler towed by your short-bed Ram 2500 a Sidewinder replacement pin box is the way to go. A sliding 5th wheel hitch like the Curt Q16 # C16521 can give a short bed truck like your 2014 Ram 2500 up to 12-inches of additional turning clearance. On the other hand, a Sidewinder replacement 5th wheel pin box, when used with a fixed 5th wheel hitch, gives you a full 22-inches of additional turning clearance. Sidewinders are made as replacements...

  • Difference Between Curt Q16 and E16 Fifth Wheel Hitch Sliders
  • The Q series of Curt fifth wheel hitches are considered to be the nicer Curt fifth wheel hitch when compared to the E16 hitch. Biggest difference being the jaw design. The E16 # 16516 uses a slide bar jaw design that allows quite a bit more movement than the Q16 (now called A16) # C16521 which uses a 360 degree contact jaw.

  • The Reese Elite underbed rail kits are the same as the Ford factory rail kits like you mentioned, but Reese does not offer an underbed rail kit that fits your truck. If you wanted this style of rail in a 2019 Ford F-250 without the factory rail kit you'd have to get the rail kit from a Ford dealer and have them install it. The Reese Ford Rail kit adapter part # RP30156 does also fit Reese Elite rail kits which means a Curt A16 hitch part # C16521 could be used. If you were to buy a...

  • Pros and Cons of 5th Wheel Hitch With a Slide Bar Jaw Versus a Dual Jaw Hitch
  • The difference between a slide bar jaw and a dual jaw is how tightly the fifth wheel king pin is held. Both do a good job securing the king pin, preventing it from coming loose. The Dual Jaw will hold the king pin much more tightly, preventing the king pin from rattling around in the pin box. Any movement of the king pin in the hitch jaws will be easily felt and heard in the truck cab. Every time the you brake or accelerate, if there's any movement in the hitch jaws-you're gonna feel...

  • How to Determine Tow Capacity for a 2008 Toyota Tundra Short Bed
  • The exact towing capacity of your 2008 Toyota Tundra depends on several factors, like the engine size, drive system, and whether or not it includes the tow package. The easiest way is to find your Certification Label and get the truck's model code. With the model code you can look in your owner's manual and find the listed towing capacity based on how your truck was equipped from the factory. The Certification Label is inside the truck's driver side door. Take a look at the picture...

  • Should a Long or Short Bed 2015 Ram 2500 be Used to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • The bed length only refers to the length of the bed itself and the cab style does not matter. A long bed truck is typically 8 feet long though some import truck long beds are a bit shorter. A 6 foot, 4 inch bed is a short bed on a domestic truck like your 2006 Ford F-250. Ideally, you would want an 8 foot bed in your new truck. But you don't have to have one. You would need a slider if you went with a short bed to ensure that you can make 90 degree turns without hitting the truck...

  • Fifth Wheel Towing Capacity for 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4x4 Duramax
  • The best place to confirm a vehicle's towing capacity is in the owner's manual, since this should reflect the specific complement of equipment installed at the factory, including the rear differential which is just one of the components that affects towing capacity. 4WD trucks with the 4.10 axle ratio top out at just over 12K trailer weight. Cab style and bed length affect it too. You can also contact your local dealership with the truck's VIN and they can look up its equipment and towing...

  • How Much Side-to-Side Movement of 5th Wheel Trailer is Acceptable When Using Curt Hitch # C16521
  • It is important for any trailer to be level when hitched, whether a bumper-pull or a 5th wheel, and it is also necessary to have enough clearance at the bed rails for the trailer's overhang. The linked diagram shows the recommended minimum clearances for a 5th wheel a the bed rails, tailgate and bumper. Because the Curt hitch # C16521 has a cushioned head, it will tend to provide more sideways movement than a non-cushioned type. It may be possible to increase the height of the trailer...

  • Can a 2016 Ram 1500 with Air Suspension Package Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • There is a way to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a 2016 Ram 1500 that has the air suspension package. To do it you will need to start with a gooseneck hitch, # C607-658. Then you can use the X5 adapter # C16210 and place a 5th wheel hitch on it. I recommend the Curt A16, # C16120 for a long bed or # C16521 for a short bed. Manufacturers have not yet figured out a way to install 5th wheel brackets on a Ram that has the air suspension package. It has been out for awhile now but still no...

This hitch slides automatically while you drive to give you 22-1/2 inches of additional clearance for tight turns. It's design relieves you from getting into and out of the truck to operate a manual slider. It has a built in roller-and-guide assembly that allows for smooth, controlled, and automatic movement. This hitch would be paired with the Demco...
