Great kit, upgrading my trailer from the surge brakes that came with the trailer to electric. One note about these that's mentioned in the comments and the video it does not come with nuts and washers to install on your trailer (mistake in my opinion) but for me not a big deal. Just go get enough washers and nuts for your install. 7/16 FINE thread. Easy install, have not used them yet, still overhauling trailer.

I received the product as ordered. The two day free shipping was much appreciated!! The only complaint I have is the packaging of such heavy parts. My order included heavy brake drums and the boxes they were packed in were not quite strong enough. My suggestion is to place an additional thick piece of cardboard to the top and bottom of the box. Two of the four boxes of brake drums were worn completely through, exposing the product. Fortunately there was no damage to the drums but as bad as the boxes were damaged it could have been bad news. Simple fix to avoid problems for the customer. Thank you!! Tony

Seem like quality parts but I haven't installed yet. One arrived with a missing piece but Amy was quick to get the replacement on its way. Great customer service and good pricing!

These brakes were a very good price. Installation was fairly easy, except that I had 2 studs free-spin during installation, which took a while to correct. If I ever have to remove them for service, I'll weld all of the studs in place from the back side so this can't happen again. I had to pick up a couple nuts as these brakes oddly do not come with them (7/16-20 grade 8 from Ace Hardware). Given the price, I think these are both minor issues. I'd seen other reviews complain about the packaging, I had no problems with that and they were in good condition when they arrived.

Prompt delivery and packaging was first rate. Thks for using ups. Their service in my area is the best by far. Initial inspection of the brakes is very satisfactory. Haven’t install them yet so can’t comment on the installation or performance. Don’t anticipate any issues.

Installing these turned out to be a battle, in part due to user error working with solderless connectors. Once I abandoned these in favor of old-fashioned wirenuts, my problems mostly went away. However, I have one big concern about the quality of this product: while troubleshooting my electrical difficulties, I discovered that with 3 out of 4 brakes(!), a hard plastic (or some sort of non-metalic metal) shard had broken loose and was rattling around inside the brake drum. They appear to have split off the back of the magnet. Obviously I'm concerned that had I not pulled the drums off and discovered this, they could have interfered with the operation of the brakes and/or caused damage. Although etrailer has provided stellar service, Dexter should be made aware of this problem.

Spring tensioner assembly immediately broke in my driver side drum. Im having to mail back the entire assembly on my own dime. Dexter service is nonexistent, had to go through etrailer for the warranty help. Ended up buying a whole new drum assembly because i need it asap, instead of waiting weeks for the warranty to get figured out. Very annoyed.

This is my second install of this brake kit (2 kits each time). The first set lasted a little over 4 years and then fell apart. The linings fell off the shoes, jammed against the drum, and locked the brakes up. It is less than 5 miles round trip to launch my boat. I don't need to launch or retrieve the boat very often so that is maybe 200 miles over 4 years. Since all I needed were new brake shoes I was disappointed to find that my only choice was to replace the entire kit. While it is certainly easier to just unbolt the entire backing plate and everything on it, it is a very expensive way to replace brake shoes. Bottom line: they are easy to install and work great (until they don't).

I restored an old concrete buggy that I purchased surplus from a rental company. It was in pretty bad shape. I got it sand blasted. I painted it with Rustoleum. I installed new brake parts, master cylinder, and wheel bearing kits. Pretty big project but it came out great! Now I have a great little dual-axle dump trailer designed to carry a cubic yard of ready mix. Works great for short loads of concrete and for drain rock and landscape materials too. I had to use JB Weld to get a good seal on the new plastic master cylinder cylinder-to-brake-hose connection, which was a pain because it leaked and required multiple attempts to fix. Plastic threads on the plastic master cylinder didn't seal with teflon tape. They are easy to over torque/strip! Maybe I did that initially, but JB Weld fixed the problem. etrailer brake assemblies were easy to install and of very good quality. Fast shipping. Thanks!

Unfortunately I am not too happy with these electric brakes. I only get to use this trailer twice a year for an ATV trip. The same failure has happened twice now with these magnets on the brake shoe. Ultimately what happens is the wire which is molded into the magnet breaks. I can’t figure out what exactly is causing the problem. Either there is too much vibration as the brakes come to a final stop or the little clip holding the magnet onto the shoe lever is popping out and allowing the magnet to rotate. First time this happened it was one broken wire connected to the magnet. Now this second time it is both wires going into the magnet are cut clean away at connection point to the magnet. I am not pleased with the situation. I have spent more time driving without the trailer brakes working on each trip than with them actually working. I feel the two weak points with this design are the small weak sizing of the wire and the cheap fidgety clip that hold the magnet in place. I have one more set of spare shoes and magnets left to try get these brakes working correctly. I was afraid this was going to happen and bought spare magnets last year.

With their helpful videos and staff (plus a little help from Curt Manufacturing and our teardrop trailer manufacturer (CampInn)) I was able to install electric brakes on the trailer, and a controller in my vehicle by myself. I had never installed electric brakes before. Everything works perfectly!

Okay, but if you look at what I ordered, it was both sides. One came but the other hasn't yet. Weren't both the left and right shipped together as a pair as ordered?

I have a 2015 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 154BH and initially thought it had 3500 LB brakes. When I discovered the brakes were 3000 LB, the only place I was able to find them was etrailer.com. I received the brake assemblies in July 2024 and installed them in August. I'm happy with the product etrailer.com supplied and have since camped with the trailer, no issues.

I ordered and received the brake assemblies in good time. These are genuine Dexter brakes made in the USA. Needed additional items, hub/drums, but unfortunately etrailer could not supply. I was able to source them from a local HD truck and trailer supplier and will complete the brakes when they arrive.

I am a big believer is sticking with original equipment parts when possible. Locally here in Canada the parts thatbI purchased frome etrailer were much more expensive. It took much longer than expected for the parts to arrive, but the quality, fit and finish was excellent. Following the burnishing in procedure the brakes functioned excellent. My trailer is a 7 Ton dump trailer with an empty weight of around 5000lbs. My gain was set @ 2 empty with excellent results is slowing the truck and trailer. I haven't pulled a full load yet, but I expect to have full confidence in the brakes ability stop the trailer safety in annorderly manner.

My trailer is over 25 years old and my concern was if I was going to be able to get the right parts. Everthing was still the same as back then. Much easier to replace the whole Assembly as opposed to randomly replacing a part here and there. I now have a new trailer...well almost

I did a total rebuild of my boat trailer. I ordered nearly all of the parts from etrailer. New carpet for the bunks new brakes and backing plates as well as a new brake actuator. New wheel bearings and seals. This trailer is old a 1974 but all of the parts fit I was satisfied with all of the products I received and the timely manner in which they were delivered to my door I am very happy with the fine service I received a t trailer and the help and selecting the right parts thank you very much etrailer.

Great replacement for my Sloan Qwik Load trailer!

Needed brake shoes and a wheel cylinder after finding them rusted and the lining peeled off and priced them out locally. Then checked etrailer.com and found this with all the hardware, new backing plate, couldn't go wrong. Saved money on the assembly and they fit just right, hope they last a few years.

Our 2021 Reflection 260rd 5th wheel gets used ALOT, that being said I will guess it has at least 4o,ooo plus miles. While doing a wheel bearing inspection I noticed one corner brakeshad unusual wear on just one shoe and another corner had a leaking wheel seal that needed attention. I placed an order for all four corners to replace all the backing plates and hardware, order came in as scheduled, I did the work and the brakes are back as good as new, very happy with the parts and prompt service.
