Best 2017 Subaru Forester Roof Racks

I bought the least expensive item in the category, and I must say I was happy with the results. The Aero Crossbars were pretty easy to install and work well. Very little wind noise, if any. Though with the Cargo basket attached to the rails, there is a little wind noise. The Rola Cargo Basket is very sturdy and seems to be well made and solid. Better then my expectation. The roof/rack mounting hardware works well. The only difficulty I had in assembly was with the rubber sleeves that cover the basket assembly screws to protect them from rusting. These were very challenging to install and I wish I had thought to just use some black duct tape - I suspect most people don't bother with them. That was the only negative - I do lose about 2.5 miles per gallon with the rack installed on my 2017 Subaru Forester, but that was expected. Overall very pleased with the purchase. Found the ordering and shipping went exactly as expected.

Racks appear to be well built and sturdy. Installation was quick and simple. Trick with installation of the rubber gasket is to lay it flat in the sun to soften it up prior to fitment. Very similar to Thule (albeit with a lower weight limit) at a fraction of the price. Photo is of the racks installed on a Forester sport with SUP pads added.

Installed in minutes with included tools. make sure to check all boxes for all parts (some bolts are in the podium box). Instructions are easy. Looks and works great on my new Forester. Already picked up two sheets of plywood and one of sheet rock with it.

Product is great. Shipping fast. Packing terrible. Box way too big for the 2 items etrailer shipped. What a waste of cardboard and paper.

These crossbars were easy to install, are sturdy when installed and look great on my factory side rails when installed with the SX Series legs. The standard end caps are an all-plastic affair and use a little key to engage a cam lock. That plus the distance from the end of the crossbar to the nut that tightens the foot onto the rail keeps things relatively secure. Most people probably want to opt for proper locking end caps, though. The rubber vortex strips look nice and give items something grippy to rest on. I haven't tried a load test yet but did drive around in moderate wind on the highway in multiple directions. Other than a slight whistle at 70 mph, you'd never know they were there. Overall, real happy with the product and looking forward to hauling some stuff around with them.

I ordered the complete Rhino-Rack with legs for my 2009 Subaru Forester. I watch a couple of videos prior to installation. Followed instructions and installation was completed without any issues. I ordered the Yakima RailGrab Kit with 48" round bars and the Gunwale Canoe Carrier Brackets on the advice of friends who have used a Yakima rack for years. I want to carry a canoe on my Subaru Forester, equipped with factory flush mounted rack, but needed something wider to hold my canoe, which is 38.5" at its center. This system is just the thing. It installs easily and the towers fit my the contours of my factory siderails perfectly. The Gunwale Brackets adjust with a twist-knob to snug up to the canoe for a secure fit. Once they're adjusted to the correct width, loading the canoe is easy-ever-after. Note: the endcaps are included in the RailGrab package, as are two cam straps, so you don't need to buy these. At $300 for everything, etrailer has a great price, and the order was on my porch in less than a week. Emails to customer service were answered promptly, and a follow-up email to ask about my experience prompted me to write this very enthusiastic review. Thanks!

Free Shipping. Was supposed to be 5-6 days but they upgraded us for free and it arrived within 2. Product works just as advertised, easy to install on our 2011 Subaru Forester. Etrailer had excellent reveiews so we ordered from them. They didn't disappoint!

I got a really great deal on this MPG201 kit via the "used" section, which wasn't used - I contacted support and it was listed essentially as "damaged in shipping" but fully functional, which it was. It came with no keys but I used a small flathead screwdriver to unlock them, necessary for rack installation. Not a biggy. One of the plastic feet split on install, which Malone rectified without hassle, and sent keys, when I contacted them with a photo. They make a decent rack for the money, I bought a different kit from them years ago. The connection beneath the roof rails is minimal but seems sufficient for surf and snowboards. I sent photos to Malone who confirmed the install is correct.

Installation was easy. The allen wrench didn't fit into one of the adjusting bolts - maybe the zinc plating was too thick on that one. Overall, the product is great. I used to have a set of bars on another Subaru (big, well known brand) and these seem just as good at a much more reasonable price. My only complaint is that the blue protective film on the lock faces is very hard to get off. The adhesive is too gooey and would not slip off like protective films should. UPSP shipping took forever (maybe due to flooding in Missouri) and the package took an extremely circuitous route. I would think UPS or FedEx more appropriate for this size package. Package was pretty banged up, but no product damage or missing parts.

I've loaded up my car multiple times and never had an issue, lumber from homedepot/lowes or varying kayaks/canoes, the roof rack handles well

I chose this cross bar system mainly for the reasonable price and the good reviews. They were very easy to install and I love that they include locks. They attach very tightly to the factory side rails of my 2009 Subaru Forester. I purchased some J style kayak mounts that I attached to the rails. They went on easily and are very solid. I will likely leave the mounts attached to the rails and take the rails on and off as needed. Overall I think these were a great buy.

2021 Subaru Crosstrek, Website video for installation was easy to follow, installed to spec, might have to adjust span when I get my roof basket. Cross bar seems solid, and was what I wanted, a little better than OEM. Look great

Great job etrailer!!!! I received a phone call from etrailer about my credit card. Once all was cleared, I received my crossbars in 2 days. I was surprised how quickly I received them.. Installing the crossbars was pretty simple. The first one always takes a little longer; reading the instructions; going slow, making sure I am doing everything right. The second bar took half the time, if that much. The outside noise that other customers complain about, is none existant unless I am traveling over 70mph.Definitely recommend the product.

My experience with etrailer has been excellent. There was going to be a potential delay in one of the products, but their customer service promptly informed me, half the price of some of their competitors so can't really complain. In the end they got the part ahead of schedule and was able to ship in a timely manner. I will definitely keep them in mind for future purchases.

One bar slid out on our first road trip. The "grip" that it slides into can't be adjusted. I am in communication with Yakima about this as Etrailer said that's the route that I would need to go. Very frustrating.

These are held on by rubber straps. Not worth $[XX]

I originally went to buy these elsewhere but the listing was unclear as to the delivery date and they appeared to be selling a single bar. I found them on etrailer and the order process was smooth, the communication was good and the product arrived when they said it would. Also, they were slightly cheaper here than on the other site. My only suggestion... Dudes... chill with the staples on the box, other than that, I feel pretty good about looking here first the next time I need something for my car.

I got these to replace my OE roof racks. The square shape is perfect for Yakima Bowdown kayak racks. Solid!

One of the lesser expensive rack kits for the Mazda5. etrailer delivered excellent! They had items in stock and shipped quick. I finally had a chance to install it this evening. My only frustration was evening out the bars. Measure, adjust and measure and adjust. I'll look into getting a fairing to reduce wind noise.

Worked great on my 2025 4-Runner. I used my old 65.5 inch Thule square bars. I fitted my old Thule hulivator on the rig and it worked great.

I’ve had this roof rack system for about a year now and it has worked consistently well for the entire 12 months and I believe will continue to work well for me for the for seeable future. I gave it four stars initially and four stars now because I do think the fit and finish of the system could be better. That’s not a dealbreaker for its function because it’s excellent in doing the work it’s designed to do but it just isn’t the prettiest. Great rack, buy it... it will work hard for you. Works great with my 2023 Toyota Sequoia and no wind noise . This was a better option then the oem trd roof rack.

This rack works perfectly on our 2025 Coachmen Nova. The platform mounted to the Thule bars easily and provides a flexible solution for storing camping and other gear.

I installed the roof rack easily. The instructions were clear. The cross bars are strong and heavy. The towers adjust easily with the provided tool. It chirps a bit when I drive. I don’t mind that. I plan to carry two Hornbeck canoes.

Free delivery that showed up in 3 days!!! Can't beat it. The crossbars with the Control Towers and LandingPad 9 fit perfectly on my Honda Element. Had them installed in about 30 mins. Don't have my cargo box yet and wanted to test strength, so I had my 110lb wife standing on them with no issues (yes, the car was parked). Plan to take a long camping trip next week with a cargo box on top...wife will be in the vehicle:-)

This is my first Thule product but not my last. etrailer was great to deal with the videos on how to install the product were so helpful. Between etrailer's help and all the reviews that other people had purchased and posted made this a very pleasant purchase and install. I highly recommend etrailer and the complete Thule WingBar system including the keylocks that worked perfectly. I typically don't write reviews but this one was worth doing.
