Question:

Just want to make sure Y38GB fits my 2021 Lexus GX460 premium model, factory flush bars without having to make modifications. Other than popping off the areas on each side of my factory flush bars, which there are 3 I assume these are for attaching the bases. I would like to pair the racks with a Yakima cargo box that is 18 cu ft. If you could recommend the cargo boxes, you feel would best fit my needs please. Thanks,

I am still sticking with really liking the Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Matte Black # TH615, but if you are needing something a little bit bigger, the Yakima SkyBox NX 18 Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft - Black Nano-Texture # Y45AV would look great as well!

I like the Yakima Skyline roof rack with the fixed mounting points #Y38GB. The mounting of the rack to the factory flush rails appears to be very stable. I would like to order the lock cores and the fit kit for the 2021 Lexus GX 460 Premium Model. Please recommend anything I need for the rack that is not included. The reason I like the Yakima SkyBox NX 18 #Y45AV cargo box is the extra space, but most of all it opens on both sides. The GX 460 has very limited space for packing gear. I will be using it for camping and beach gear, 10x10 pop-up shade, folding wagon, folding chairs, fishing gear, sleeping bags, tent. I would like to order the security lock cores. Please recommend anything I need for the rack that is not included. Thank you, Carl

@CarlI Everything you need will be the # Y38GB for the crossbar set-up, for the locks you will want # Y07204, and for the box # Y45AV. With those 3 part numbers you will have everything you need for extra cargo, and not have to worry about someone with sticky fingers taking off with your new set-up while you are relaxing at the beach, fishing, or camping =)

For your 2021 Lexus GX460 with factory flush rails and fixed mounting points, the Yakima Landing Pad 30 (LP30) kit is specifically designed to utilize all six factory mounting points: front, middle, and rear. These landing pads serve as the attachment base for Yakima’s SkyLine Towers, which in turn support your crossbars. While it may seem convenient to install only four landing pads to match the connection points of your NX18 carrier (which hooks to just two rails), this is not recommended. The Yakima system relies on using all six pads to ensure proper weight distribution, structural integrity, and safe operation. Skipping any of the factory mounting positions can result in misalignment, increased stress on the mounting points, and potentially void Yakima’s warranty. Even if your NX18 carrier only makes use of two crossbars, the crossbars themselves must still be anchored correctly to the vehicle’s roof using the complete set of landing pads. Therefore, to ensure a safe and secure installation, you should install all six LP30 landing pads.
