Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule T2 Pro platform style 4 bike rack. That's part number TH9034-9036. I've already got it loaded up on the Escape just to give you a good idea on what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It actually secures our bikes in 2 spots. We have this nice big wheel hook here in the front putting down pressure on our front wheel into this large wheel cradle here and then we have a rear wheel strap going over our wheel here keeping that in place. All in all there is no frame contact. One of the key features about this bike rack is its ability to tilt away from the vehicle with 4 bikes loaded up.



Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape TH912XTR

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule Roadway hanging style 2 bike rack, that's part number TH912XTR. I've already got it loaded up on the Escape with our bike loaded up as well just to give you a good idea on what it's going to look like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It secures our bikes in 3 spots. We have 2 straps going over our top tube and then 1 for our seat post tube. This one is going to be our anti sway strap. It's going to prevent a lot of the sway in the bike while we're on the road as well as prevent bike to bike contact and bike to vehicle contact. Let's go ahead and take our bike off.



Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape

Today, on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be doing a test fit of the Swagman XC2 Platform-Style Two Bike Rack. That's part number S64650. I've already got it loaded up on the Escape, just to give you a good idea of what it's going to look like and how it's going to secure our bikes. It secures our bike in one big spot, and that's going to be this top tube here. We've got this hook going over our top tube, putting down pressure into our front and rear cradles. All in all, it's nice security for our bike. It's quick and easy. Let's go ahead and take our bike off.



Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape we're test fitting the Kuat Transfer Three Bike Platform style rack. This rack is adaptable for inch and a quarter or two inch hitches. The part number for that is TS03G. Now, as you can see, we do already have our bike mounted. We're going to show you some features of the bike rack, itself, and then also how we strap down the bike. The first thing we're going to show you is the tilting feature. Now, with this platform style we are able to tilt it away from the vehicle with the bike still on the rack itself.



Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we are test fitting the Curt Premium Tilting 4 Bike Rack designed for 2 inch hitches. And part number for that is going to be C18064. Now as you can see here, we do already have our bike on our rack. We're going to show you how we strap the bike down and then also some features of the rack itself. Now as you can see here, we've got two cradles holding in our bike and 3 straps, 2 on the frame here and then 1 back here. That's going to be your anti-sway strap and cradle. That's going to keep the bike from swaying back and forth and possibly hitting your vehicle.

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we're test fitting the Thule Vertex 4-bike rack. It's a hanging style bike rack and it also is tilting. Part number for that is TH9029XT. Now, great feature about this bike rack is that does work with 1 1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches. It's got an adapter for those 2-inch hitches. As you can see, we do already have our bike hooked onto our carrier.

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Thule Hitching Post Pro. This is a folding and tilting 4-bike rack. It's been designed for use with the 1-1/4" or 2" hitches. Its part number is TH934XTR. To begin our test fit we're going to slide the shank of the rack right up into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll slide it in far enough so that our threaded hole will line up with our hitch pinhole. We'll then take our anti-rattle bolt and we'll slide that in.

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape we're going to test fit the Yakima FullTilt. This is a folding and tilting 4-Bike rack. It's been designed so you can use it with either an inch and a quarter or a two inch hitch. Part number on it is Y02462. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the rack right into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we slide it in, you want to make sure the silver anti-rattle device goes in and then we'll slide it in far enough until our silver pin appears here in our hitch pin hole. We'll then come to the rear and tighten the red triangle shape knob.

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Vertex. This is a folding and tilting four bike style rack. We can use it with both 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number is TH9029. To begin our test fit, we're just going to slide the shank of the rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We're then going to line up our threaded hole with our hitch pin hole. Once we get those in line, we'll take our anti-rattle bolt and thread that in.

Kuat NV Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape we're going to be talking a look at the Kuat NV, a platform-style 4-bike tilting rack. Now they've designed this for use in 2" hitches and chrome part number is N105-107. We also have this in a gun metal gray and orange; that part number is N101-103. To begin our test fit we need to slide the shank of the rack right into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we do this we want to line up our pinhole here with our hitch pinhole. We'll then slide through the provided pin and secure it on the other side with our provided lock. It just slides right on the end. Now that we've got our pin in place we're going to turn the black knob that's located here at the rear.



RockyMounts TieRod Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 Ford Escape

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the rocky mounts tire rod roof mounted bike rack. Part number RKY1014. With our two way rapid crossroads racks are already placed, we'll grab our bike rack and place it on to the rack. Make sure when placing on the rack, make sure the two rubber T straps go around the front bar. With the rack in place, secure the T straps around the front of the head. Next you move to the rear of the rack, loosening up your bracket and sliding it into place around every bar.



RockyMounts TieRod Stretch Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 Ford Escape

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Rockymount Tierod Stretch Roof Mounted Bike Rack. Part number RKY1011. With our Thule Rapid Crossroads Rock System already in place, we'll start by putting our bike rack onto the rack. You want to make sure that your 2 rubber T straps go around the front bar. Once around the front bar, you can put them into place. Next you'll move your rear bracket forward, loosen it up and make sure it mounts around the rear bar. Next you'll tighten up the front allenscrew to the front bar just to secure the rubber straps in place, then you'll tighten up your allenscrew at the rear bracket. Now that the rack is in place, make sure your front skewer is open and your rear strap is undone. Next, we'll grab out bike, place it on the rack making sure the forks are secure in the skewer first. You can then move to the rear and tighten down your rear strap. Now your bike's in place and you're good to go. And that will complete today's test fit of the Rockymount Tierod Stretch Roof Mounted Bike Rack. Part number RKY1011 on our 2012 Ford Escape.



Swagman Fork Down Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 Ford Escape

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, well be test fitting the Swagman Fork Down Roof Mounted Bike Rack, part number S64710. With the Thule rapid crossroads rack system already in place, well grab our bike rack and place it on to our roof rack. Line up the head of the bike rack with the front bar. Youll then take a U-bolt, place it through the front of the head, and secure it with two wing nuts at the top. Be sure not to tighten them down all the way because you want it a little bit loose to tighten up the rear. Youll want to repeat this process with another U-bolt on the other side of the front head.
