Today we're gonna take a look at the Peterson Backup Alarm for trucks and vans. Anytime you have a commercial vehicle, or maybe a fleet vehicle, something that's going to need that backup alarm, this is gonna be a great replacement or addition to your truck to meet those compliance rules and regulations. It's pretty easy to install, we'll just have our two wires to connect. The red wire goes to our power connection, so we'll wanna wire this in with our reverse switch if we have it available, and then our ground will be the black wire.If you don't have a reverse switch option on your vehicle that you're installing this on, if it doesn't have any backup lights to operate as that reverse switch, you will need to install one on your own. That is not included with this alarm, so just keep that in mind.It also comes with that rubber grommet, helps us to mount it in place, gives it a little bit of protection. So I'm gonna connect my wires and demonstrate just how loud this alarm really is. If you're listening to this on headphones, I would advise turning down your volume a little bit, because it's gonna be pretty loud.
This is gonna be the 97-decibel alarm, there's another one that's available at 102. This is how loud it's going to be.So, very loud. Definitely gives people a warning that you're going to reverse, so they should stand clear. It meets all SAE J99 type C specifications. It's made in the USA, and it does require a cutout for installation. With our grommet in place, it's about an inch and a half wide, going from the edge to edge there.
The alarm itself, pop it out of its grommet . The alarm on its own is about four inches anda quarter in diameter. From top to bottom it's about 1 3/4 inches deep, and then about one inch deep, an inch and an eighth, from the top to the bottom there, going from the inside edge down.Again, our decibel level with this alarm is 97 decibels. It has an operating voltage between 12 and 48 volts. Whether you're mounting this vertically, horizontally, you can do that with the included grommet, and it'll definitely let people know that you are putting your vehicle into reverse and they should stand clear. That's gonna do it for our look at the Backup Peterson Alarm for trucks and vans..
