Video Transcript for Review of Dometic RV Furnace - Thermostat and Black Door - DMC78RR

Hello, neighbors. Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our Dometic RV furnace with included thermostat. Runs on LP gas or liquid propane. It has an automatic pilot light that runs on a 12 volt DCC current, rated at 20,000 BTUs with a nice black access door. Now folks, before I put this door off, I wanna show you a closeup of what it would look like when it's installed.

And let's go ahead and remove it and let's do some quick dimensions for you, and I'll throw these dimensions up on the screen for you as well. But basically, it's 12 inches wide, 7 inches tall and 20 inches deep or long, depending on how you want to describe it. Keep in mind, I've got this vertical, or horizontally. You can also rotate it and install it vertically as well. So you have that flexibility for installation as well.

Now folks, this furnace can quickly and easily and efficiently heat the interior of your RV, camper, motor home, travel trailer, fifth wheel, whatnot, and it can either replace, upgrade, or just add a furnace. It's propane-powered. You got the four wires up here, two for thermostat, and then red and black for power and ground. The propane connection will be under this rubber tab here that they've put on there for shipping purposes. I'm gonna leave that in place so nothing gets damaged.

But again, great for boondocking because you don't need electrical power to light it up. You just need the 12 volt spark. It has a automatic DSI gas pilot and that's gonna reduce the risk of gas leaks, but also increase your fuel efficiency. Now, with the control board and everything up here, it's gonna automatically relight until the heater is switched off and it uses a low-turbulent, air turbulence rather, that provides quiet operation. Now again, it's compact, so you can use it and mount it in the horizontal or vertical directions.

You get two of these duct adapters. And as you can see, you've got one access on each side, one on the top, one on the back as well. The whole unit is ETL certified, and they're gonna give you, again, the access door that I already showed you. This panel here goes behind the door. Then you got the actual door itself, which is metal, and the heat shield, muffler, whatever you wanna call it, but it's really just the heat shield, And that gets on the outside of the RV, camper, whatnot. Keep in mind, you get the mounting screws and hardware as far as that panel. You also get the thermostat, which is a mechanical thermostat, meaning there's no digital display or wifi or anything like that. It's strictly just a hot or cold as far as the temperature of the furnace itself. Again, folks, rated at 20,000 BTUs. That module also has a red LED light that could potentially flash and it would be flashing faults or diagnostic codes if those are present. So maybe it ran out of propane or something, or it doesn't have a 12 volt connection that's secure. It may flash a sequence and that will let you know based on the troubleshooting in the manual, what the fault is so you can quickly remedy it and have heat again. So a great little unit, again, 20,000 BTU. Comes with the black access door or panel, however you wanna call it, and the mechanical thermostat. That's gonna wrap it up for our quick look today. I'm Steven. Thanks so much for watching, folks, and have a good one.
