Dual Folding Arms with Anti-Sway Cradles

Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Dual Folding Arms with Anti-Sway Cradles with HitchSwitch Lever

The Thule Apex XT has dual arms that provide excellent support for your bikes. They slope up to provide ground clearance for steep driveways and bumpy roads.

Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Switch Lever

To fold the arms down, pull up the HitchSwitch lever at the top of the mast. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And when stored in this configuration, it doesn't take up as much space in your garage.

Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

HideAway anti-sway cradles with rubber straps hold your bikes firmly in place. Each set of cradles has two straps that secure your bike along the top tube and one that secures the seat post or downtube. This multi-point contact helps keep your bikes from rocking back and forth, reducing bike-to-bike contact. The soft rubber cradles rotate around the rack's arms to accommodate bikes of different styles and shapes.

Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Grooves

The cradles have grooves on the surface that prevent your brake and shifter cables from getting pinched.

Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Folding Cradles

Ratchet straps hold your bikes firmly in place on the cradles. You can remove the lower straps and fold the cradles up against the arms to make it easier to slide your bikes onto the rack.

Easy Tilting for Cargo Area Access

Thule Apex XT 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Tilting

The rack tilts down without your bikes loaded. This means you won't have to remove the whole rack to access your cargo area for grocery runs and other errands.

Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Lower HitchSwitch Lever

To tilt the rack down, pull up the HitchSwitch lever at the base of the mast. When you're ready to go, lift the rack up until it snaps into place with an audible click.

Tool-Free Installation and Complete Security

Thule EasyFold XT

The rack quickly installs in your hitch receiver, without the need for tools. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. Turning the knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge in the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. It also sets the integrated SnugTite hitch pin into place, securing the rack to your receiver.

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack 1-1/4

You can install the rack in a 1-1/4" hitch or in a 2" hitch. To use it in a 1-1/4" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Pin

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. Once locked, the hand knob will spin freely so a would-be thief can't operate it.

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Cable

The integrated cable lock threads around your bikes' frames and inserts into the lock at the end of the left arm. The cable stores inside the mast when not in use. The locks are keyed alike, so you only need to use 1 key. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all your Thule products keyed alike.

Available Adapter Bar

Thule Helium Pro 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Cable

If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

  • Difference Between Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack and Older Apex Rack
I spoke with my contact at Thule regarding the new Apex XT 5 Bike Rack # TH9026XT that you referenced and he said the biggest difference/improvement from the older model takes place with the cradle assemblies. The new Apex XT features fixed cradles (the cradles on the older model could be moved forward and back which lead to some instability) with wider spacing between them (7 inches) to better prevent bike to bike contact. The ratcheting system has also been updated to a new strap that's...

  • Looking For 5 Bike Rack That Does Not Require Wrench To Attach To Hitch
Hello Rachel, thanks for reaching out. I see you were looking at the Thule Apex XT Bike Rack for 5 Bikes # TH9026XT and honestly this is a really good choice that will fit your needs. It can carry 5 bikes. It installs to the hitch using a hand knob, so you don't need to carry a wrench around with you. It also tilts away from the car to allow access to the hatch. You are correct that adapter bars like part # TH982XT may be needed for kids bikes or alternative frame bikes. I will admit...

  • Can Thule Hanging Bike Rack Carry E-Bike
Hey Brian, so hanging bike racks can't really carry e-bikes since they are heavier and they have alternative frame styles. So your best option is a platform e-bike carrier like the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 which was specifically designed for carrying e-bikes. It has a ramp system built in even to make loading and unloading easier.

  • Hitch and 5 Bike Rack Recommendation for 2015 Toyota Sienna
For a hitch for your 2015 Toyota Sienna I highly recommend the etrailer hitch part # e98853 which has a hidden crosstube that allows for a more concealed look and also helps with ground clearance. Then for a bike rack the Thule Apex XT part # TH9026XT that you referenced is a really great option for carrying 5 bikes. It is very easy to use, well, made and also very solid. I attached a review video for this rack on a similar Sienna for you to check out as well. If you plan on carrying...

  • Is the Curt 5-Bike Rack Easy to Remove and Install
The Curt Premium 5-Bike Rack # C18065 is not difficult to install and remove but it will take more time than other 5-bike racks. The reason for this is it uses a threaded anti-wobble hitch pin to lock inside your hitch that needs to be screwed in and unscrewed to install and remove the rack. If you do want to save some time and effort the better option is the Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Rack # TH9026XT, with the trade-off for the convenience the Apex XT offers being a larger price tag. • Troubleshooting Anti-Rattle Feature Not Working on Thule Apex Bike Rack
Since the tightening knob for your Thule Apex 9026 bike rack (replaced by the Apex XT # TH9026XT) is spinning you want to first verify that the key is in the unlocked position. This bike rack had a neat feature where the knob would just free-spin when the key was in the locked position to help deter theft. If it is in the unlocked position then the next step would be to use the Locking Anti-Rattle Knob # 753-0073 and see if that fixes your issue. If you are still having issues with the...

This will replace the cradle straps and the anti-sway straps for 2 bike positions on your hanging-style Thule bike rack with HideAway cradles, and will fit your Thule Apex XT Bike Rack. You will be limited to a hanging style bike rack since that is the only type of carrier than can handle 5 bikes. Unfortunately you will need to use an adapter bar such as # HRBA-PRO for any oddly-shaped bikes such as step-thru, women's, and children's. Regarding the Yakima FullTilt 5 Bike Rack # Y02463 and Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack # TH9026XT, both have a weight capacity of 150lbs and can fit 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. Both offer a tilting mechanism which allows for access to the trunk...

  • Can Cradles on Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Rack be Adjusted for Different Sized Bikes
The cradles on the Thule Apex XT # TH9026XT are actually set at fixed points on the arms which is what the small screw is for. I confirmed this with my contact at Thule. This was actually an upgrade from the original Thule Apex as it helps to keep the cradles in place and from possibly sliding on the arms during transport. The cradles are set apart by 5-1/2" (on center) and you are supposed to alternate which way your bikes are facing. This combination should give you enough clearance for...

  • Picking Between Thule Apex Swing Away Rack and 5 Bike Apex
I really like the swing away feature of the Thule Apex Swing XT part # TH9027XT as it allows complete access to the rear of the vehicle with bikes fully loaded. The only way I'd go with the 5 bike Apex XT # TH9026XT is if you knew you had to carry 5 bikes at some point and there was no way around that.

  • Comparing Thule Apex XT 4-Bike and 5-Bike Racks
If you only plan on ever carrying 4 bikes and you're looking for ease of use then the Thule Apex XT 4-Bike Rack # TH9025XT is the better option. It has 28" arms and the cradles are spaced 7" apart which should allow you to load up all 4 Trek bikes just fine. The 5-Bike Apex XT # TH9026XT also has 28" long arms so the cradles are 5-1/2" apart which is the more traditional spacing, but it will make loading up your bikes a little more of a hassle. Your only real benefit of the 5-Bike version...

While the Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack # TH9026XT does have a weight capacity of 150 lbs, this is for when it is fully loaded to 4 or 5 bikes (30 lbs - 35 lbs per bike). The individual cradles won't be able to handle a 50 lb bike so we'll need to find an alternative to transport your E-Bike. An alternative option from Yakima is the HoldUp 2 Bike Rack # Y02443 which can carry up to 2 bikes weighing 60 lbs each. I reached out to my contact at Yakima and she did say that the HangOver 6 Bike Rack # Y02485 is not going to be a good option to secure kids bikes. Since the carrier is a wheel-mount style and the cradles cannot be individually adjusted, all 6 bikes really need to be pretty similar in size. As you mentioned, the rack also isn't compatible with bikes that don't have the needed suspension forks for the cradle strap to attach to. This is the only 6 bike rack we have available but we do have...

  • Is Adapter Bar Needed for Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack
Great choice on the Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack # TH9026XT! As far as adapters go you'll need to use an adapter bar like part # TH982XT for any kid's bikes or bikes that don't have a horizontal top tube. The cradles on the Apex XT that hold the bikes are 13" apart (outside to outside) so it's difficult (or impossible) to install those types of bikes on hanging racks like this without the adapter bar. Aside from that you should be good to go! Attached are review videos on each for you to...

  • 4 or 5 Bike Rack Recommendation on 2015 Honda Odyssey
For your 2015 Honda Odyssey, I'd recommend a 5 bike hitch mounted rack so the entire family has the option to play together. A great choice for your bike rack would be the Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack, # TH9026XT. It will fit a 1-1/4 or a 2 inch hitch and has some great options to make it easy to use. The 1-1/4 and 2 inch sizes you see refer to the hitch receiver opening. If you have the rack, measure the shank at the bottom of the rack. If it measures 1-1/4 X 1-1/4 inches, you will need to determine whether or not it will fit a Class I or Class II hitch. There are stops welded inside Class I hitches to prevent use of Class II accessories that can overload a Class I hitch. I have added a link below...

  • Solution for Using Bike Rack on 2003 Honda Pilot with Shallow Hitch Pin Hole
Using a small hitch extender like the Curt # C45791 for your Thule Apex 5 Bike Rack will indeed resolve the shallow hitch pin issue you have for the trailer hitch on your 2003 Honda Pilot. The potential issue though with this or any similar adapter is that it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent.
