When you’re not towing, this base plate nearly disappears. The direct-connect brackets sit tucked behind the grille so nothing clunky hangs off the front. Once the removable drawbars are pulled out, what’s left is smooth and low-profile. The black powder coat finish resists corrosion and keeps the setup looking clean after plenty of miles on the road.
Each arm drops into its bracket, twists to lock, and clicks in place with the built-in pull ring. When it’s time to disconnect, tug the ring, twist back, and pull the arm free—no tools or wrestling required. That twist-lock connection makes it easy to line up your tow bar even if you’re hooking up solo or on uneven ground.
The base plate bolts directly to your vehicle’s frame for a solid link between car and motorhome. Computer-cut, all-steel parts spread the towing load evenly so you can trust the setup trip after trip. Every weld and bracket is built to handle 6,000-pound-class tow bars without flex or fuss.
This kit pairs with motor-home-mounted Roadmaster tow bars like the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, and Falcon 2. The direct-connect design eliminates the need for a quick-disconnect crossbar entirely, simplifying your hitch point and reducing extra hardware in front of the vehicle.
You don’t need a welder to get this mounted. The base plate installs on existing frame points using standard tools and comes with all necessary hardware and instructions. Once bolted up, it’s a solid fit designed to stay aligned ride after ride so you can spend more time towing and less time adjusting.

Base plate installed on 2015 Cherokee trailhawk. Instructions were just fine. Pics were great. However lets get a warning in there on step 6, when drilling through the rivet on the drivers side, be careful because the winshield washer fluid reservoir is just on the other side. I drilled right into it and dropped a full tank on my dad's garage floor, not cool!

I installed this base plate on our 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk 1 year ago. Installation was easy with included instructions. We've experienced zero towing problems or issues during the 5000+ miles traveled. I highly recommend the Roadmaster towing products.
The install was straight forward just as in the video for my 2018 Jeep Cherokee. Do watch the videos even if you are mechanically minded, they help a lot. The written instructions need a little refining. At times the illustrations have arrows that point to the wrong item. Overall a very solid product. I am presently 1/3 of the way on a 3000 mile trip and all is working as expected.

Just got done installing them by myself. They are super easy to install. The only thing hard about it was taking off and putting back on the stuff on my car. ?? haven't towed with it yet!
Received product in timely matter/ product is of excellent quality. Did the install my self with the help of your great video. I have purchased many products from Etrailer Been very saddisfied. Now can tow behind motor home.
I received the wrong part. It's not what I ordered and will not fit my vehicle. Now, I have to take the time to send it back which means driving 51 miles to my nearest UPS drop off. I am not happy.
Absolutely great product. Installed as instructed without a problem primarily because of the video provided by etrailer on the website. Could not have done it as quickly and smoothly without that video. Roadmaster baseplate is very sturdy and does NOT require cutting the steel bumper mount flanged as the blue ox version does for my Jeep. Yet I can still use a blue ox tow bar with an inexpensive adapter on the ends. Very sturdy, quality setup.
This kit was a perfect fit and the instructions were superb. Removal and replacement of the entire fascia on a vehicle is intimidating, but the step by step process was amazing. I am very satisfied with the results. One tip - The instructions reference wiring, which is helpful. I mounted the fascia without attaching it so I could properly locate and cut out for the umbilical connector and breakaway switch.
Great product and fitment. I have yet to tow my 14 Cherokee Trailhawk yet but the installation was extremely straight forward and between the detailed written directions and the video, installation was a cinch. Installed base plate, light diode, battery charger, and breakaway in 6 hours. Baseplate required very minimal facia trimming. Bought a dremel for cheap on Craigslist with a metal cutoff bit and trimming tool. Perfect tool for the job. etrailer customer service and shipping is top notch

Pic #6028 finished install , mounted the operating unit to the top fuse box cover using automotive Velcro . Air cylinder , controller and LED light installed . Aside from the base plate bracket not lining up with the upper bolt holes I would give it 4 stars . My son in law is a master at solving mechanical issues .
We have towed our Jeep almost 2,000 miles since installing the recommended parts from etrailer and it has worked perfectly on every connect and disconnect along the way. Tows beautifully, even at 70 mph.
Excellent customer service and helpful videos from these folks. Would recommend to anyone needing help with parts and guidance in towing their toad to give them a call.

Our system is still working perfectly a year later. Our Jeep is a 2018 Cherokee Trailhawk and while we’ve seen some RV forums talk about “death wobble”, we have never experienced this using these Roadmaster products towbar & baseplate. We tow the Jeep with our 39’ Class A gasser and hardly know its back there. Even on sharp corners the Jeep follows perfectly and no binding. Connecting or disconnecting takes maybe 5 – 7 minutes. Then check all of our lights, make sure the Jeep is in neutral wbrakes off and we’re on our way. The braking system that we installed purchased from etrailer is the “Stay-n-Play Duo”. I would recommend that to anyone looking for easy operation. The installation time was a bit lengthy and involved but once completed makes all of your towing trips much easier. Just the flip of a switch and the braking system is ready for towing. No portable unit to lug around and adjust each time you tow your vehicle. The etrailer folks made the perfect recommendations for our needs and everything has worked GREAT!

Although we sold the Jeep Cherokee, the tow gear and Invisabrake system that we installed worked wonderfully without a flaw up until we sold it. We are purchasing again for our newest TOAD.
