If you like a clean, factory look when you’re not towing, this design makes that possible. The base plate sits tucked away behind the fascia, and the removable arms twist out easily so nothing sticks past the front bumper. When the arms are off, you can plug in the included receiver covers to keep dirt and debris out and keep the front end looking finished.
The removable draw bars use a twist-lock attachment that makes connecting your tow bar quick and easy. To hook up, just slide each arm into the receiver, twist until it locks, and secure it with the pin. When you’re done towing, pull the pin, rotate, and remove—the process is clean and straightforward whether you’re working alone or with a partner.
This base plate bolts directly to your vehicle’s chassis with no welding required. The sturdy steel build spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to help reduce stress on your suspension. Powder coating keeps rust and corrosion in check for long-term reliability through countless miles of travel.
Already have a tow bar you like? This base plate works directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection. It’s also adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5, or with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (all sold separately). That flexibility makes it easy to integrate into your existing flat towing setup without starting from scratch.
For those who prefer to do their own work, this kit comes ready for a simple bolt-on installation. All required mounting hardware is included, and there’s no need for welding. With bracket spacing of 18" and bracket height at 15-1/2", you can plan your setup precisely and get a solid, reliable fit the first time around.

Ive got over 5,000 miles on the base plate and doing great!! Ony problem were the nuts welded off center and had to have them milled before I could use them.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
