Features to know about

Keeps Your Trailer Level: 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop

Uneven trailers can cause sway and uneven tire wear. This ball mount gives you a 3/4" rise or a 2" drop so you can line up your trailer perfectly level. The 2" x 2" shank fits standard receivers, keeping your setup balanced and steady on every trip.

Built to Tow with Confidence: 6,000 lbs GTW and 600 lbs Tongue Weight

When you’re hauling gear, you want gear that can handle it. This mount is rated for 6,000 lbs gross towing weight and 600 lbs tongue weight, giving you dependable strength for trailers, campers, or small equipment hauls. It’s a solid steel design made to meet J684 towing safety regulations for reliable performance every time.

Stays Put and Simplifies Install: Lockrail Built-In Wrench System

No fumbling with two tools or worrying about the ball spinning during setup. The patented Lockrail system works like a built-in wrench, letting you torque your hitch ball with just one tool while keeping it from rotating. It’s a small feature that makes installation and removal quicker and frustration-free.

Resists Corrosion and Seizing: XMount Design with Powder Coat Finish

Rain, salt, and road grime won’t slow this mount down. The XMount design channels away moisture to prevent seizing inside the receiver, and the black powder coat finish adds extra protection against corrosion. It stays clean, slides out easily when needed, and keeps performing season after season.

Smart Length for Easy Hookups: 8-1/2" Center Distance

Getting your trailer hooked up should be straightforward. With an overall length of 12-1/2" and an 8-1/2" distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, this mount gives you a clear working area behind your bumper for smooth connections every time.

Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the TowSmart Ball Mount for 2" Hitches

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Tow Smart ball mount for two inch hitches. And this is gonna allow you to not only have a two inch drop, but also a three quarter inch rise. For something like our kayak trailer, or a small boat, or even a small utility trailer, this is gonna be a great option. Now ball mounts kind of tend to all look the same, and a lot of times you're just looking for the rise and drop. But the Tow Smart, I'm actually kind of impressed with. It's put a few different details that kind of makes it stand out compared to some other ball mounts.

And the first one's gonna be, this is not square, and that's not a bad thing. This fits in your two inch by two inch, but this is to allow water to channel out. That way when it's in here and tight fit against it, if it's a square, that water's gonna become rust. And sometimes these can get pretty tricky to get out, because it's started to fuse to the hitch metal. So that's something that's really nice, you have that channeling.

Now something else they thought of too is you'll see these ridges here, and this little track allows us to get our ball in place, whether it be a rise or drop, and torque it down with one tool. Other times this is gonna be flat, and you have to put a wrench on here with your torque wrench on the other side, and it's a decent amount of torque, so it is a little bit trickier. Well, this one you just drop in place, these ridges are gonna hold that in, just allowing you to use the torque wrench only to get it installed. Now as far as weight capacities go, this one's rated pretty well at 6,000 pounds, and that's gonna be a decent amount to be able to tow. And your gross trailer weight rating is gonna be the weight of the trailer plus the accessories loaded up.

You also have a 600 pound tongue weight, so it can handle a decent amount of pressure being put on here. Now this does not come with a ball, and that's so you can choose what size you need, but you will need something with a one-inch diameter shank for it to work. So whether you're using a two inch ball or a one and seven eighths like we have here, you're gonna wanna make sure that you check the weight capacity of that. This is rated at 6,000, but also you gotta make sure that your hitch and vehicle also match that towing capacity before hooking up. Now as I mentioned before, this is a two inch drop that we have it in, but if you need to get a little bit more clearance to raise up for a trailer, you can simply flip this over.

Now you will have to retorque the ball on, but again, with the channels on the other side, it makes it nice and easy, and this is gonna give you that three quarter inch rise. Now something else to consider is you will need to pick up a pin and clip to allow you to keep your ball mount in place of your head. So you all are gonna need a five eights pin and clip. Now, this does have a black powder coat finish on it. So if you plan on leaving this on your vehicle, it's gonna hold up to weather and corrosion long term. And if you get a locking pin and clip, you can leave it on the vehicle and not have to worry about someone taking it off your vehicle. Now, depending on your vehicle, you're gonna wanna make sure that it's gonna be able to clear your rear fascia. So from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the shank, it's gonna be eight and a half inches. So something to consider when choosing this for your vehicle. That way you have enough clearance for that trailer to get on the ball, but also not damage your vehicle. The Tow Smart is really nice, because it has these grooves here on both sides. So if you're putting it in a rise or a drop, it's gonna allow you to put that ball in place, and it's going to go right where normally you'd put a wrench. And this is gonna act as our wrench as we torque it down, making it a one tool job, and just a little bit easier. We'll just get our ball torque down, and then we'll be ready to use it. (tool clicking) And that was a look at the Tow Smart ball mount for two inch hitches, with a two inch drop or a three quarter inch rise.

Good quality construction........works great.

by:

Worked great

by:

Exactly what I wanted. Also I like the squared off end rather than the slant cut

by:

Seems solid, but I'm a little annoyed it doesn't come with a hitch pin. I just assumed it would, as that part doesn't really cost anything and is necessary for this to work.

by:

This worked well to get the kayak trailer to trim evenly when towing with my pickup truck. etrailer makes it easy to get what I need for my trailers.

Easy install and worked as expected.

My main compliment is how well customer service fixed a shipping issue created by UPS. The shipping box arrived empty. The hitch managed to break through the box while in transit. A new hitch was shipped out to me immediately. Well done guys! This is a clever hitch with channels to prevent moisture from getting trapped in the receiver and grooves to hold the ball in place while tightening the nut.
