Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Shocker Hitch HD Air Ball Mount

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Shocker Hitch HD air ball mount. Now, this is a heavy duty shock absorbing hitch that's going to use an airbag and rubber bumpers to provide a smooth and comfortable ride. It's gonna help extend the life of your truck and trailer by protecting them from unnecessary wear and tear. It's also gonna help limit your chucking and jerking to give you better control of your tow vehicle and your trailer. This does have an enlarged airbag in grade 50 side plates.

So this is designed for your heavy duty trailers. It's going to give you a gross towing weight capacity of 20,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 2,000 pounds. Our airbag does adjust to accommodate your different loads, so it's gonna ensure that you have just enough shock absorption for your setup. It's not gonna be too much, and so it's not gonna cause a stiff ride for you. Our cold rolled steel shank here is gonna slide into your three inch by three inch trailer hitch receiver.

This is gonna require five inches of clearance below the bottom of the receiver tube, and so it is going to fit most trucks with three inch hitch receivers. It's not going to fit your SUVs, CUVs, or sedans due to the limited clearance there. Our ball is a zinc-plated 2 5/16 inch ball, so it is gonna be corrosion resistant. We do have five different drop positions available so that you can tow trailers with different heights. Very simple to switch that from one to the other.

Just pull out the pin here. The pins do have these large handles, so it is very easy to grip those and slide those out. Once you get those out, you can move the ball wherever you need it to accommodate your trailer height and make sure it's gonna ride level. So our minimum drop where I have it here, it's going to be about 4.5 inches and that's measured from the top inside edge of your receiver tube, down to the ball platform, which is about where your coupler's gonna sit. So if your coupler sits about 4.5 inches lower and then the top inside edge of your hitch, this will accommodate that.

And then if you move this to the lowest position, it's got a 7.5 inch drop. These poles here, adjustment holes are spaced about an inch apart, so you can figure out those incremental changes in between there and make sure it's gonna work for you. This channel is 3 3/4 of an inch wide so it is going to work with the included ball mount, but it's also going to work with any other shocker hitch accessory including pintle hooks, clevis pins, and drawbar attachments. Those are all sold separately, but they all will fit in that channel there to give you those different mounting options so you can hook up your other trailers. The hitch pin clip for securing this to your receiver is sold separately. It's just your standard 5/8 inch diameter hole there, so you probably already have a pin that will work. If not, we do have those available here at etrailer.com. We also have locking pins available if you want to add a little extra security. You can see here on our pivot pin, this does have a built-in grease zerk that's going to provide an easy lubrication for you to make sure everything is going to be moving smoothly and can pivot and absorb that shock for you. Does have a shot blasted and powdercoat finish to help resist rust and corrosion and it is made here in the USA, so you can trust it is gonna be a good quality for you. It's gonna hold up well, last nice long time. As you can see, here on the front is where you're gonna have that fitting so you can add air to your airbag and take air out depending on your load. So very easy to use. I think it's gonna do a great job for you, and help make sure that you're taking care of your equipment, taking some of the rough ride out of towing your trailer.
