Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Curt Ball Mount for two inch hitches. Now this one is a full chrome plated so it does give a little bit different look and you have a two-inch drop and a 3/4 inch rise. Now keep in mind when picking up a ball mount a lot of times they do not come with a ball and this one is just like that. Now we just went ahead and put a Curt 6,000 pound ball in here. Now keep in mind that you want to pick up a ball that's going to match the coupler of your trailer but also match the diameter of the shank hole. So this one is gonna be an inch so whatever ball you're picking up, whether it be an inch and 7/8, a two inch ball or 2 5/16.
you wanna make sure you're adhering to that one inch diameter and also just match the coupler to your trailer. Now the weight capacity on our ball mount is rated pretty well. We have a 7,500 pound gross trailer weight rating which is gonna be the weight of the trailer plus the accessories loaded onto it. And your tongue weight is gonna be 750 pounds. And that's gonna be that tongue weight that's pressed down.
Now we do have a 6,000 pound ball here and we also need to check the hitch on the vehicle and check what the vehicle can tow as well. You're gonna want to take the lowest of all those components and that way you're not overloading any of them and you're gonna be able to tow safely. Speaking of your trailer, we have a boat trailer that we're gonna be hooking up to today that has a two inch coupler and it's gonna work really well with our drop and keep it nice and even. But if you had a different trailer that maybe has a higher coupler height, no problem. You can just simply take the ball mount, flip this over and then you're gonna take the ball, undo this and you are gonna have to retorque it down.
But the fact that you have a rise or a drop is really nice and this 3/4 inch is not too crazy but that may give you that height to level up your trailer. Now as far as pin and clip, it does not come with one. You are gonna need one obviously to keep that in place in the hitch and it's gonna be a 5/8 pin and clip. So if you need to pick one of those up, we have plenty of options available at etrailer, including a locking one. And those are really nice because you can lock that in place, leave the ball mount on the vehicle and no one's gonna be able to walk away with it.
Now this is obviously very sturdy to be able to hold up to that weight capacity, but you also have a chrome plated finish throughout the ball mount which is really nice. It looks really good and it's gonna hold up to corrosion long term. So even if you leave this on the back of your vehicle, it's not gonna get all rusty and corroded. It's gonna take a long time and it's gonna really just hold up to the elements. What's nice too is it is a hollow shank and what that means is it's gonna be a little bit lighter. So if you are planning on keeping this in the back of your truck or whatever your tow vehicle is, it is gonna be a little bit lighter just because that's hollow. So that's kind of nice. And you are ready to hook up and just lower your coupler down. (crank whirs) Snap this in place. We'll get your jack out of the way and safety chains on and get our wiring all set up as well. Something else that you're gonna want to check is how it's gonna work on your vehicle. And from the center of our hitchpin hole to the center of the shank is gonna be eight inches on this ball mount. So it works well with the Escalade that we have hooked up right now. But your vehicle bumper may be different. You wanna make sure that you have that clearance so that the coupler's not making contact with the face of the vehicle. And that was a look at the Curt chrome plated ball mount with a two inch drop and a 3/4 inch rise for two inch hitches.

Great quality on flat steel bar, well polished out, and chromed. Square tube could have been deburred a little better on inside the open end. But overall everything claimed to be and more for fair price.
