Most brake controllers stick out and take up knee room, but this one tucks the main unit behind the dash. All you see is a small knob on the console, just 9/16" wide and 1-7/8" long. It blends in like a factory switch, not an aftermarket add-on. That single knob does everything—adjusting brake power, manual override, and showing color-coded alerts. The compact control box mounts anywhere within the 3' cable length using screws, tape, or zip ties for a clean, out-of-the-way setup.
Sand, mud, or steep descents can make towing unpredictable. With off-road mode, you set a fixed trailer brake force that works independently of your vehicle’s braking. Keep it low in soft terrain so the trailer doesn’t dig in, or turn it up on steep grades so it doesn’t push from behind. A quick double press on the knob activates the mode and the LED glows green to confirm it’s engaged. It’s an easy way to keep control and stability even when conditions get tough.
No more jerky stops or push-pull surges. The internal 3-axis accelerometer senses how you’re braking and automatically matches the trailer brakes to your input. Ease onto the pedal and the trailer eases in; hit the brakes hard and the trailer responds just as firmly. That even braking helps prevent wear on tires and pads while keeping your whole setup steady and predictable every time you slow down.
You don’t have to splice wires or guess at connections. A vehicle-specific harness plugs directly into both the brake controller and your existing wiring for a simple install. The main unit measures only 4" long x 3-3/8" wide x 1-1/8" tall, fitting easily behind trim panels. It runs on 12V or 24V systems with a 9V–32V output range and handles up to 25 amps continuous current for trailers with up to 3 axles (6 brake assemblies). Once installed, calibration happens automatically as you drive—no extra steps needed.
This controller meets or exceeds both UNECE R21 and FMVSS 201 standards, so you know it’s built with safety in mind. Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Redarc Tow-Pro Trail proportional brake controller with custom wiring harness. Now, this has been designed to fit your 2021 and newer Ford Bronco and on custom-fit parts such as this brake controller, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Input the year, make and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now, this brake controller will require minimal dash space on your vehicle and it's gonna be very simple to install and operate. It has a factory look and feel, looking like it always belonged in your dash because this is going to be behind something, you're not going to see this and the only visible part of this whole system is going to be this knob.
This does feature a user control mode that's going to give you direct control of your braking, activating your trailer brakes, independent of your tow vehicle's brakes. So this is gonna be great for off-roading or towing in adverse weather or off-road rough terrain rather. Now, this control knob is going to mount on your dash or in your dash or any other easily accessible area, maybe like your middle console, something like that, wherever you've got a good place to put this. And it's going to allow for quick and easy adjustment of the braking power with just the turn of the dial. And it's also going to provide manual override by just pressing the knob to activate.
Now, this is going to also offer simple diagnostics with bright colored LED. So when this is plugged in, it's going to light up. If you have a lighter trailer, you can dial down to a lower braking power and when you hit zero, that means no braking. And if you have a heavier trailer, you might want to increase the braking power. And again, to operate the manual brakes, operate the brakes manually, you'll just push the knob.
So this cable will plug into the back of the knob and then the other end will plug into the brake controller. And then the main unit, as I said, is going to install out of sight. There's not gonna be any more hitting your knee when you get into your vehicle. No bulky controller that's visible underneath your steering wheel, no interference with airbags or other vehicle accessories. And of course, no hard to reach lever or impossible to reach screen.
This can be mounted in any position, direction, and angle with the included mounting kit that you see here. No complicated wiring. The custom-fit harness that you see here is going to let you plug in and go right into your Bronco. And if you don't already have a 7-way at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive 7 and 4-way brake controller installation kit. It's known as the ETBC7 that is sold separately from this, but if you pop in ETBC7 in the search field of our website, that will take you to that kit if you're in need of it. This is going to meet or exceed both UNECE R-21 and the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 201 regulations for sustainability and safety. This brake controller is for trailers with up to three axles and six brake assemblies. It's designed for use with electric or electric over hydraulic trailer brakes, and it does work with 12-volt and 24-volt vehicle electrical systems. And just to give you some measurements here of the unit itself, looking at the overall length, we're sitting pretty close to four inches, the width, about 3 3/8 inches, and the height, about 1 1/8 inches. So it gives you an idea of the size of the unit. This does include everything that you see here. In case you don't know, this is to insert into a blank in your console. You can just pop this in with the knob. And again, it's really gonna look good after the installation's complete. It's gonna look like it's always belonged there. I wasn’t sure spending the extra money on this was necessary cause I had always been using the other style controls for ever and they worked fine. I bought this because of the limited leg room under my dash on my new rig. After installing this, not only did I have more refined braking control, I mounted the control knob where I didn’t have to hunch over to reach for adjustment or manual braking. And now the reason for buying it was just an added bonus.
The Redarc controller that I ordered to install in my Lexus GX460 was perfect! I ordered the Tow Pro Trail version. The harness to connect the factory trailer harness under the dash was the correct one for my Lexus. lling the controller that se are a little more work than installing the ones that hang under the dash, but well worth it!
Excellent product. Updated from a Curt wireless Bluetooth controller. The installation of the Redarc is plug and play. No modifications of any kind required. Being able to manually set brake force and to operate the trailer brakes independently is just great. Highly recommend.

Great workmanship and easy to install. I installed the main unit right below the steering wheel behind the panel per the video by redarc. If you install the dial where the 12v outlet plug is currently located, you can find another place to put your 12v port like i did. It was simple to adjust to my tandem axle trailer. Glad I purchased this instead of the more expensive factory controller.
Its great. Works just as advertised. The only gripe is that the provided switch slot is not the factory one for the frontier and it moves around. I ended up modifying the blank switch cover and using that instead, but overall a great kit. Wiring was easy with the provide harness for the frontier.

Installation was a breeze with the custom harness. Plug and play with all the electrical components. I adapted a marine surface mount 12 volt plug housing as a mounting solution for the control knob, eliminating the need for any drilling.
For my 2021 Gladiator with factory tow. Everything including specific harness and little round mount for the control knob to replace the 12v outlet was in the kit. Hardest part of install was learning how to open the dash panel. The controllor powered up and is working as expected on normal road driving. Very straight forward and no struggles.

Installed in a modified Tacoma, with a serious off-road trailer. I use this system camping / off-road 40+ nights per year, mostly in the Sierra Mts. I have blown 2 other brake systems which caused unsafe conditions. I had just a few hours to install the RedArc system before leaving on a trip. The truck specific plug and play setup was quick and easy with a very clean simple dash button. It has been dependable over the year.

This is my second brake redarc brake controller this one is in my wifes Bronco. I love that its a smart controller because my RV has an engine brake which engages and the brake controller recognizes and works together. Im probably going to purchase a third one for my Dodge Ram pickup because its the best brake controller Ive ever used.
