Video Transcript for Performance Tool 2 Ton Floor Jack with Stands Review

We are going to review and try out the 2 Ton Floor Jack with Stands from Performance Tools, part number PTW1605. With this part number, this is what you get. Of course, our trolley jack right here and you will get two jack stands. This jack is rated for 4000 pounds capacity. Now with it fully extended, we will go ahead and give you overall height measurement. It is safe to say about 13 inches to the top of our jack. We will go ahead and cover a couple of nice details.

First off, if we look at the top of the jack here, this part swivels. This way you can see the inaudible 00:03:49 in here will dig into what ever you are picking up, instead of being a flat surface where it can move. Also it has a convenient carrying handle for the jack. Let's go ahead and cover our controls. Very easy to use. If you want to raise the jack or whatever you are lifting up, you want to make sure that this part here is turned clockwise.

The end of the handle will work as a tool to tighten it up. You don't have to crush it but just snug. Then our handle will go inside this component here. Make sure it's pinned, goes in and help keep it in place. Turn it to clockwise once again.

Then to operate the jack, simply lift the handle up and down. To lower it, we take our handle, put it back on this part here and when it's under weight, slowly twist it counter-clockwise. That will lower the jack. One extra little detail here. As we lower it back down, this little spring provides tension and brings the jack back down, aside from other jacks that uses the weight of whatever is on top of it to push it down. Let's take a look at the pair of jack stands that come with it.

These are very simple jack stands rated for 4000 pounds of load capacity. They have a ratchet system right here so when you pull up on it, it automatically locks into place. Once the load is off of these guys, you can pull up on the handle and you retract it. All right, let's go ahead and try out our new jack on our trailer here that obviously needs a new tire put on. We will position the jack on your lowest point on the axle and then we will go ahead and lift it up. Once we have our jack high enough, we will go ahead and put our jack stand underneath our axle. You always our jack for lifting purposes only, not to hold up the trailer or anything else. Perfect. With our jack stand doing its job on the inside, we can go ahead and take off our wheel. I am going to put a new tire back on this trailer. We are done doing our work on our trailer. We will go ahead and use our jack one more time to lift it up, take the pressure off the jack stands and we will go ahead and remove them. Now I can go ahead and lower our jack and our trailer in a controlled manner, slowly counter-clockwise. With that, that will finish it for the 2 Ton Floor Jack with Stands, part number PTW1605 from Performance Tools. You can find this and everything else right here at etrailer.com. .

Nice for the price.
When using the jack
to raise my mini-van, the jack would move a little because of the wheels on. Would be nice if way to mobilize the wheels when start raising the jack.

To lower the jack, need to use a flathead screwdriver to turn a component, that releases the hydraulic pressure. It takes awhile to get used to - first few times using, the release was too quick and minivan came down much more quickly than would have liked.

I've seen other jacks where lowering is much easier and simpler process than having to find a flathead screwdriver and ever so slightly turning a knob. But I imagine that comes at an extra cost.

There was some black cover on the jack that appears in the picture. When arrived it was bent and not fitting. I don't think it is an important piece, so not a big deal.

So, in the end, good product for the price. I don't jack things up too often, so good enough for me.

As always etrailer delivered again with a quality product. I bought a two ton floor jack from a local
Establishment that simply did not last even though
It had very little use and still looked new. I told my friend I am ordering a floor jack from etrailer because they have good stuff. Enough said!

  • Will Using the 2 Ton Floor Jack Help Raise a Trailer to Free a Jack Caster Wheel From the Ground
It is possible to use the 2-Ton Floor Jack, # PTW1605, to help raise the your trailer tongue to free your jack caster wheel from the ground. Two things you would want to make sure you do before and while using the jack. First, find a 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick piece of plywood that will be big enough to sit the floor jack on while you are using the unit. The wood will provide for a strong base for the jack and will prevent the jack from sinking in to the ground when in use. Second, if it...

  • Should Jack Stands be Used to Raise Trailer for Winter Storage
If you raise your trailer for storage during the winter months then you want to place the jacks stands just in front of the front leaf spring hanger. The 2-Ton Floor Jack with Stands # PTW1605 would be a great option to do this. To keep your trailer level you may also need to use some blocks under the front jack. You could use more jack stands if you'd like (the more the merrier kind of philosophy) but you don't have to if these jack stands and your A-Frame jack are capable of holding...

  • Recommended Jack Stands For Long-Term Trailer Storage To Protect Tires
The best way to preserve your tires is to put the trailer up on jack stands, partially deflate the tires and protect them from UV rays which shouldn't be an issue in garage storage. As a general rule of thumb, trailer tires should be replaced every 6 to 8 years regardless of wear. Even though an older tire might appear to have plenty of tread left on it, dry rot and cracking can cause tire failure. You mentioned age not being the issue, so the only cause of separation is misuse or manufacturer...

  • How Difficult is the Installation of the Draw-Tite Hitch # 76170 on a 2018 Honda Odyssey
Using a lift does make installation much easier, but it is not necessary when installing the Draw-Tite Hitch # 76170 on your 2018 Honda Odyssey. Although it is not required, I recommend using a floor jack when installing this hitch. Using a floor jack and jack stands, like # PTW1605, will allow you to raise the vehicle up off the ground to provide more clearance to install the trailer hitch. Be sure you follow all instructions and safety procedures when using a jack and jack stands. If...

  • Recommended Rear Jack Point for 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback
You can use any point along the frame of your 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback. To install the hitch, I recommend using a hydraulic jack and stands like # PTW1605 just in front of the rear tires along the frame and putting the jack stands back as far as you can without impeding the location of the installation.

  • Installation of the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Honda Odyssey Van
After watching our installation video and referring to the installation instruction for the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13068, it is not necessary to use a lift when installing this trailer hitch on a 2008 Honda Odyssey. However, raising the rear of the vehicle off the ground will make installation easier. I recommend using a hydraulic floor jack and jack stands on a flat surface when installing the hitch. The Performance Tool 2-Ton Floor Jack with Stands, # PTW1605, would work well...

  • Floor Jack to Change Wheel/Tire of 5,000 lb Trailer
A 3,000 lb jack would be able to lift a 5,000 lb trailer since the jack would basically only be lifting half of the trailer weight since the other half is supported by the wheel on the other side. I think bare minimum you'd need a 2,500 lb jack though. That said going with a higher rated jack like the # PTW1605 which has a 4,000 lb capacity would be a really great choice as that just means that jacking up the trailer will be an easier job for you and this kit comes with jack stands which...

  • Can Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver Be Installed On 2018 Chrysler Pacifica With Using A Jack?
When the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver 2" # 76046 is installed on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, there is typically only going to be around 12" of clearance from the receiver to the ground (see demonstration video). It may be possible, however, I do not recommend trying to install this receiver without the use of a lift or jack as that would not leave a lot of room to work with and it could be dangerous. You could use a kit such as 2-Ton Floor Jack with Stands # PTW1605. This comes...

  • Installing Trailer Hitch on 2018 Subaru Crosstrek without a Vehicle Lift
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13382 is the easiest install of the trailer hitch options for your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. If you are okay with working in extremely close contact with the underside of your Crosstrek, you can install it while the car is on the ground. Most people will prefer to use some jack stands like # PTW41021 or the jack with stands # PTW1605 to give you a little more room especially because an extra set of hands is also helpful. • Replacing Brake Assemblies and Drums on a 2000 Interstate Cargo Trailer
Self-adjusting brakes do work, but they will need to be adjusted when first installed. After the initial installation you will not need to do yearly adjustments. According to the Interstate Cargo Trailer Manual, you should have two 3500 lb axles, 15" wheels and your hubs should have a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2". Based on that information, I recommend brake assembly kit # AKEBRK-35-SA and the hub and drum assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. Prior to ordering, please double-check that your bearing...

  • Trailer Suspension Lift Kit for 2017 Airstream Sport 22 Single Axle Travel Trailer
A bolt-on axle over-under kit like # K71-384-00 and # K71-385-00 will typically give your trailer between 4 and 5-inches of lift. The exact amount of lift depends on the axle diameter and the height of the leaf spring stack. Lift will be the sum of the axle diameter plus the height of the spring stack. Kit # K71-385-00 works for axles with 3-inch diameter Installing an axle over-under lift kit on a trailer is not a complex job but it does require the right safety equipment to avoid risk...
