Question:

what kit would i use to lift it 3inch airstream dealer wanted $900 to it, who can do a job like this the correct way... also what about a over / under. thanks

Bolt-on axle over-under kits we offer for leaf spring trailer suspensions, parts # K71-384-00 and # K71-385-00, and the torsion axle type like # K71-725-02 will typically give your trailer between 3 and 5-inches of lift. You can see a tandem leaf spring installation in the linked photo.

If you have a single torsion axle we offer kit # K71-707-01 for a # 10 axle up to 4000-lbs.

The exact amount of lift from an over-under kit depends on the axle diameter and the height of the leaf spring stack. Lift will be the sum of the axle diameter plus the height of the spring stack. Kit # K71-385-00 works for axles with 3-inch diameter. Since your Airstream Sport 22 has a GVWR of 4500-lbs it will likely have a 3-inch axle. If your springs are 2-inches tall this kit will give you 5-inches of lift.

Installing an axle over-under lift kit on a trailer is not a complex job but it does require the right safety equipment to avoid risk of injury. A jack and stand setup like # PTW1605 will lift and support the trailer and wheel chocks like # 337WC1467A will secure the wheel that is on the ground.

Any trailer shop should be able to handle the installation but you might find that your local auto repair shop might do the job as well.
