Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this replacement surge protector kit for the Hughes autoformer 30 amp voltage booster with surge protection. Now this will replace the surge module for your Hughes autoformer 30 amp voltage booster with surge protection. That voltage booster we do sell separately on our website. It's part number HU24FR.

Now this kit here will include everything shown here on the table. It includes the surge module, the circuit board, the ribbon connector, the three metal screws and the drill bit. Basically, I wanted to pull one of those autoformer voltage boosters just to show what we're talking about, and this is it right here. Now, basically the Hughes autoformer surge protector will absorb any high voltage spikes that might threaten your RV appliances. With small events it will handle a surge and keep running.

But the lifespan will decrease until it's all used up. Eventually when all the surge capacity is used up, there's a light on front here that's always green. It's the green, or the surge capacity light. And when that turns to red, that means it's surge capacity is all used up. So then you'll need to replace the surge module.

And that's what this part is right here. This surge protector will protect your RV from power spikes, offers 2,400 jewels of surge protection and to install it is pretty simple. What you want to do is take the included eighth inch drill bit. they give you and drill out the three metal rivets on the lid. There's one on this side, one right up here, and then one on this side.

So using this drill bit drill out those rivets, remove the rivets, and then take the lid off. And what you'll do on the inside is locate the old surge protection module and cut the zip tie, holding it in. Unclip the connectors, remove the module and this old circuit board and then connect your new units using the connectors all here. Now the connectors are unique and they can only be installed one way. There's no chance to install it incorrectly. And then once that's all done and everything's connected, put your lid back on. And then with the three holes right there, use the included metal screws here to secure the lid back on top. So pretty simple installation.
