Today we're going to take a look at the Derale low profile sandwich adapter and this is the 20x1.5mm filter thread size. Now when you install an oil cooler on your vehicle to help improve the performance and longevity of your engine, you do not want to worry about moving the factory oil filter. So this will come into play, this is a low profile sandwich adapter and this fits between the oil filter and the engine block and will provide external oil lines to run an engine oil cooler while dropping the factory oil filter only about one inch lower than stock. This sandwich adapter is cast from a high quality aluminum, it does maintain the factory equivalent oil filter. Now in this adapter, there's a little ball right there, that's a built in relief valve. This allows the oil to bypass the filter, using this relief valve when the pressure gets too high. Basically how that happens is when your oil is cold, its pretty thick, so when it starts to go though the engine, the pressure starts to gets higher because of it being so thick and that relief valve will open and allow that oil to bypass to keep the pressure from getting too high.
Now once your oil heats up, of course, it thins out and when it's thinner, that relief valve will close. Then it allows the oil to flow though the filter. Now, this part does come with the sleeve nut, comes with the o-ring, comes with a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install it. Now this is made in the U.S.A. A few specs on this now, the ports where the oil will go and they are marked in and out, they show arrows pointing in and out. These ports have the 3/8" NPT which is the National Pipe Thread size.
Again the thickness on this, let me get a ruler, you can see the thickness is one inch and the engine filter thread size, which on this thread nub will have the filter thread size which is 20x1.5mm and the o-ring which goes in here between the block and the sandwich adapter, it will fit 2 1/2" and 2 3/4" filter diameter sizes. So when you go to install this, what you want to do is go ahead and put some oil on your o-ring before you put it in and then you got it all set in there. The o-ring will go up against your engine block and then what tyou'll want to do, this, will go up through the adapter and then that is what will thread onto where your oil filter, when you take your factory oil filter off your engine, it'll have the threads there, so that'll thread onto there. Then that oil ring will seal it like that and then you'll have the threads sticking through right here. Then your oil filter will tighten up right against here and these are your oil lines that'll go right through there. Very simple operation.
That should do it for the review of the Derale low profile sandwich adapter. This one has the 20x1.5mm engine filter thread size.

It works great once installed. The O-ring didn't seal so I ended up using gasket maker to seal it. Installation would've been easier if it came with something that tells you what thread size to use where the oil lines come in. But again, once installed, it hasn't given me any issues
