  Hey Mark that is a bummer to hear. Have you been lubricating it at all this time? I know it's easy to forget to do that but if you do skip the components can get frozen up and hard to use. So I would go with your next plan and grease it up real nice like and I would be willing to bet it will work again.   In regards to a Curt 5th Wheel Hitch, the weight capacity comes from the head not the base so in order to upgrade from a Curt A16 Hitch like part # C16521 to a Curt A20 or Curt A25 Slider you'd a new head, the Curt A20 Head part # C16540 or the Curt A25 Head part # C16580. The reason the # C16017 has the extra set of holes is for different heads. The A25 just happens to have an extra row of holes to fit different legs. Curt came out with another hitch head the A25 # C16580 which has a better latch system and a different pivoting system.
