On the Rapid Hitch Adjustable Aluminum Ball Mount # AM3411 the ball can be removed from the mount by gently tapping on the mount when it is removed from the shank part. The ball pin is just a friction fit. If needed you can apply some light lubricant, such as WD-40, before you tap the curved part of the mount with a rubber mallet.
