  • Best Trailer Tire in Size ST235/80R16
  • The best tire we have in the size ST235/80R16 that you referenced would be the # TTWTRTM2358016E. This radial tire is a Load Range E with a 3,520 lbs at 80 psi capacity and a speed rating of 81 miles per hour. Normally trailer tires are only rated for 65 MPH, but since this one is rated higher it would be the best option that we have since most people really want to at least do 70 MPH. I attached a review video for this tire for you to check out as well.

  • How to Determine Which Transmission Line is the Return Line for Installing a Transmission Cooler
  • The method we use to determine the correct line to install a transmission cooler on is pretty simple. You want to install the cooler on the return line. To determine which line is the return line you will want to start with your truck totally cooled off. Start the truck and put it in drive, apply the brakes firmly and then apply the accelerator slightly so that the rpms climb. Put the truck back in park and shut it off. Now go out and feel the two lines leaving the radiator. The cooler...

  • Diameter, Maximum and Minimum Height for Air Bags in Firestone Ride-Rite System # F2071
  • I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Firestone Ride-Rite system # F2071. When fully collapsed and no air in the system it measures 2-3/4 inches not counting the valves on the top. Please note that you should always have at least 5 psi in the springs up to 100 psi. When in its regular state the bags will not expand much beyond how they come in the box. They are 6 inches tall again not counting the valves. And finally, the diameter is 5-3/4 inches. Use these measurements as guides...

  • How to Change Levels on Edge EZ Programmer for 2001 Dodge Ram Cummins 5.9L, 24V
  • The Edge EZ, # EZD1000A, is preset to level 3 of low boost fueling which is the most responsive. To change the settings you would use an allen wrench to remove the two screws on the front panel. On the other side of the panel you will see 3 jumper settings. The jumper should be positioned in the right most location unless it has been changed before. You can move the jumper once to the left for level 2 or all the way to the left for level 1. I have included a link to the installation instructions....

  • Where Is Brake Controller Port Located On 2001 Dodge Durango For Installation Of Adapter, # 3020-P
  • If your 2001 Dodge Durango has the factory installed 7-way trailer connector on the rear bumper, the port for the brake controller should be located near the emergency brake pedal. I am sending a video link of a brake controller installation on a 2003 Dodge Dakota and at the 45 second mark it shows the location of the brake controller port under the dash that should help you locate the port on your vehicle. You can check the port with a circuit tester to see if one of the pins supplies...

  • Detail K2 Snowplow for 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport
  • All snowplow kits offered for the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, shown on the linked page, exclude the Sport version from their fits. My technical contact at K2 advised that instead of a front-mount hitch you CAN use their Custom Mounting Bracket kit # K284309. This has no known compatibility issues with the Ram Sport according to my contact. With it you can use a plow like # K2RAMP8219.

  • Where Does a Brake Controller Install on a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500
  • The correct adapter to install the Brake Controller part # 39510 you referenced in your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 is the part # 3020-P. This adapter plugs into the 4-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. I attached a picture of the blue connector plus a link to an install video that will walk you through the process.

  • How To Control The Electric Brakes On A Trailer Being Towed By Multiple Trucks With Air Brakes
  • The Warner Air Utility Brake Control, part # 1300-80, is designed for use with air brake systems of tow vehicles and automatically operates electric trailer brakes in synchronization with air brakes. This part has to be installed on the tow vehicle with an air brake system. It is not designed to be used on the trailer with electric brakes being towed by various trucks with air brakes. If the trucks you hire have a 7-way trailer connector on them I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy...

  • How to Install a 7-Way Connector on a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500
  • There will be two options available to install a 7-Way on your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, depending on what you have on your vehicle right now. If you have a 4-Way connector on your vehicle right now, you can use the Hopkins Adapter, part # 37185 to install a 7-Way. This adapter will plug into the 4-Way on your vehicle and give you a 7-Way and 4-Way connector at the rear of your vehicle. After plugging in your 4-Way to the back of the adapter there will be four extra wires that will need to...

  • Prodigy Brake Controller Draining Truck Battery Overnight
  • Which Prodigy do you have, the original or the P2? My contact at Tekonsha tells me that if the power to controller is interrupted and re-established in rapid succession, like when you are replacing your battery, the processor of the original Prodigy can be confused which would cause the display to behave erratically or to remain on instead of going into sleep mode and shutting down like normal. Unplugging the controller for several minutes and plugging it back in should allow the processor...

  • Availability of Replacement Wheel for Demco Kar Kaddy 3 Tow Dolly
  • We can indeed offer you a spare wheel for your Demco Kar Kaddy 3. The part number is # DM09296. It is a 14 x 5-1/2 inch wheel with a 5 lug on 115mm bolt circle. I've confirmed with Demco that is indeed the correct replacement wheel. You'd want to use a ST205-75R-14 Load Range C tire like part # AM10234. The # AM31985 you referenced wouldn't work well for you. It's a 13 inch wheel, not a 14 and the offset would be wrong.

  • Recommended Trailer Axle Kit for Fabricating Off-Road Utility Trailer
  • If you are building your own firewood hauling trailer you might want to consider one of our Timbren axle-less suspension kits. These are available with idler hubs and some also have lifted spindles that can give you better ground clearance (for use in the woods when gathering your firewood). We do have standard beam axle kits too but the Timbrens can be the ideal way to go for fabricators that want an effective but simple installation of their trailer suspension. The linked page will...

  • Recommendation For a Brake Controller on a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel
  • Brake controllers are universal items so most brake controllers will fit on most vehicles by using the correct adapters. The brake controller will have no problem working with your vehicles on board computer. For your 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885. The Prodigy 2 brake controller is our best selling model. It can be mounted in a 360 degree vertical range and will level itself automatically. It is a proportional brake...

In that case you would need hitch # 41504. The method of installing the controller will depend on how your truck is currently equipped. If you already have the 4-pole trailer connector, you can order the P2 part # 90885 and use the corresponding wiring adapter # 3020-P. You will also need an adapter, part # 37185 to convert the 4-pole...

  • What is the Speed Rating for Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire
  • Trailer tire # AM10235 is rated for 81 miles per hour maximum. Occasionally going above 81 miles an hour is not a big deal but you would not run it consistently over its speed rating. The issue is that trailer tires are built with a thicker side wall to handle more vertical load. This thicker side wall also means that the tire can generate more heat. Higher speeds create even more heat. You will want to avoid doing anything that will increase the amount of heat the tire can potentially...

  • What Vehicles Does the Edge Gas Evolution CS2 Performance Tuner Fit
  • The Edge CS2 has a pretty extensive fit list as it can fit most gas vehicles. The only way you could tune another vehicle is if you removed the programmer from the Dodge Ram first. They lock the programmers like this to prevent one person from buying the programmer and then tuning everyone's...

  • Can a 2001 Dodge Durango 4.7 4x4 Tow a Travel Trailer that Weighs 7,000 Pounds
  • Based on my research the standard towing capacity of a 2001 Dodge Durango 4x4 is 4,450 pounds and the maximum is 7,350 pounds. It depends on how it is equipped. The source that you need to check is the owners manual. I do not have access to one online but your copy should have the towing capacities listed. There also may be a towing capacity listed on the sticker in the driver side door jamb. Trailer brakes are a good idea, but they do not get added to the Durango. The trailer will...

  • Transmission and Oil Cooler Recommendation and Install 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L Towing a 24ft Camper
  • Transmission and engine oil cooler # D15902 would be a great fit for your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, towing your 24 foot camper. As far as the cooler installation in relation to your AC condenser, it really depends on how much room you have. You would need to measure, once received, to determine where you are able to mount the unit. It is, of course, best to install the cooler in front of the condenser, because it would function at full efficiency, but it would still be effective if installed...

  • Need for Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch with Short Bed Truck
  • The hitch and trailer manufacturers recommend the use of a fifth wheel hitch with slider on trucks with beds between 6 and 8 feet long. The fact that your camper has an extended pin box will provide you with some more clearance, and improve the chances that your will be able to negotiate 90 degree turns without having the trailer loft strike the rear of your truck cab, but using a slider is still strongly recommended. You can use a Kwik Slide Fifth Wheel Slider for Fifth Wheel Trailer...

  • Towing Capacity of 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins
  • The truck owner's manual is the best place to confirm its capabilities, such as towing capacity, but if this is not available the best alternative is to contact a dealership with your truck's VIN. This allows the dealership to see all of the equipment installed on the truck at the time of production. Note that a specific truck can have different towing capacities for a 5th wheel trailer that uses an in-bed hitch than for a bumper-pull trailer that uses a hitch receiver. Engine, transmission,...

  • Towing Capacity for a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500
  • I did a little research on your 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 and found that it's max towing capacity is listed as 13,900 lbs. I would strongly recommend you check the owners manual of your truck to see what Dodge lists as the capacity for your truck and be sure not to exceed this figure regardless of what hitch you install. When determining your overall capacity you must always go with the lowest rated component in the setup as the overall capacity. The Curt Hitch part # C15319 that you referenced...

This means that if you were to tow a travel trailer with a dry weight of 3800 lbs you would only be able to add 300 lbs of gear to the trailer, including water, propane, trailer battery, and all of the other equipment you will need. You should check your specific vehicle max towing capacities in your owners manual or consult the vehicle...
