Is the hitch head on this different from the older Demco Recon, or is it the same?

Hey there Chad, it’s the same head.
The universal Recon Stealth # DM63UV for the uses the same hitch head # dm6169 as the older Recon models, so you’re getting the same wraparound jaw and locking bar design at the kingpin.
The difference with the Stealth is really the base - it folds down and breaks into three pieces for easier handling and storage.
Are you upgrading from an older Recon or just comparing options?
