Question:
I use my truck for work during the week and tow on weekends. Is this actually easy to remove, or still kind of a hassle? Just bought new 2026 pickup

Hey Luis, congrats on the brand-new truck. This one’s much more manageable than a traditional 5th wheel hitch / adapter.
It breaks down into three pieces, so you’re not lifting one big unit, and the base folds down so it’s not sticking up in the bed when it’s not assembled. The old Recons are still nice, but these are a huge improvement when it comes to saving space in the truck bed.
If you go with one of the vehicle-specific kits, you also get a MOLLE panel to store everything at the front of the bed instead of leaving it loose or hauling it to the garage. Just depends on your truck:
- # DM54QJ > Ford Super Duty F250 F350 2017–2026, 8 foot bed, OEM prep
- # DM82SJ > Chevy/GMC 2500/3500 2020–2026, 8 foot bed, OEM prep
- # DM22SJ > Ram 2500/3500 2019–2026, 8 foot bed, OEM prep
If you don't need the MOLLE panel, you can get the universal one # DM63UV.
No matter which one you go with, make sure you have the OEM gooseneck ball, or an aftermarket one that matches the standard OEM size and 4" or 5" ball height.
What truck are you running? I can help make sure you’re looking at the right kit.
