Features to know about

Built to Tow Heavy Rigs with Confidence: 25,000 lbs GTW and 6,250 lbs Vertical Load Limit

This hitch is made for heavy-duty towing. With a 25,000 lbs gross towing weight and a 6,250 lbs vertical load limit, it’s built to handle large 5th wheels on long hauls without flinching. The sturdy steel construction and durable carbide powder coat finish give it the strength to stay solid mile after mile. It’s the kind of hitch that feels locked in from the first hookup to the last turn of the trip.

Quiet, Secure Connection on Every Trip: Interlocking Dual Jaw with 360-Degree Contact

The interlocking 2-jaw system wraps completely around the king pin for full 360-degree contact. That means less rattle, less movement, and a smoother, quieter ride compared to slide-bar models. The fully articulating torsion head helps absorb road shock and keeps everything steady through bumps and turns, so towing feels controlled and stable no matter how far you’re going.

Know When You’re Ready to Tow: 3-Point Color-Coded Lock Indicator

The color-coded lock indicator takes guesswork out of hitching. A quick glance shows if you’re uncoupled (red), ready to couple (yellow), or locked in for towing (green). You can see it right from your cab or beside the bed, and when you uncouple, the handle resets automatically so it’s ready for the next hitch-up. It’s a quick visual check that adds peace of mind before hitting the road.

Make Tight Turns Without Worry: Non-Binding S25 Slider with 12" Travel

The S25 slider gives you up to 12" of fore/aft travel for safe clearance during slow turns. It automatically latches in both directions and rolls smoothly on wheels, not hollow rods, so it glides easily when repositioning the trailer. That extra movement helps prevent contact between cab and trailer on tight turns while keeping the hitch securely locked once you’re lined up straight again.

Remove It When You Need Space: Fast 1-Pin Head Removal and Built-In Lube Plate

When you want your bed back, pull one pin to lift off the head—no tools needed. The design lets one person handle removal without wrestling heavy parts. It also includes a plastic lube plate that makes hookup smoother and keeps wear down on the king pin connection. It’s a simple setup that works hard when towing and makes life easier when you’re off duty.

Came as promised boxes were in good shape. Installation was a breeze, thank you.

by:

I received two packages and one package was damaged BUT no damage to components inside. I put the hitch together and installed it in truck everything was in boxes and there was no damage or scratches on all components. I haven't towed my rig yet BUT I did couple & uncouple it, everything seems smooth and really quiet couldn't even hear when it latched so for very impressed can't wait to tow. I give it a 4 star rating only because I haven't towed yet will be back in touch.

My experience with etrailer was amazing. They helped me pick out the proper 5th wheel for my needs. RAM 3500 8’ bed dually!
The product shipped and arrived earlier than I expected.
The CURT A25 with the RAM prep package was an easy installation.
I could not be happier with my purchase and experience with etrailer.

by:

This 5th wheel hitch is AWESOME!!! It was as easy as the video to assemble and install. I put it together in the living room watching to Olympics. It is easy to install in the factory RAM puck system. You should use a buddy, it is a little heavy. It took about 30 to 40 minutes to put together and another 15 minutes to install and torque all the bolts to specs.

Shipping was fast for box 2/2. I believe I placed my order on June 30th and box 2/2 was delivered on July 2nd. Unfortunately box 2/2 was the only box that I had a tracking number for so I had to call etrailer. Even though this was an inconvenience the lady was super nice and helpful and ensured me box 1/2 would be at my home by the 6th of July and it was. The legs fit perfectly into the 2021 Ram puck system and was almost to easy to believe it was done correctly. The rest of the hitch bolted directly into place as described. I am more than happy with this product and for how easy it is to use it is definitely worth the price.

by:

I haven't used the hitch yet, but while installing it I noticed:
1) the 4 bolts which connect the hitch head to its legs, or base boxes, are a smaller diameter than the 8 bolts that hold the pin box onto my 40' 5th wheel trailer, and
2) when mounting the legs into the 5th wheel prep package on my 2019 F350, I found that a snug adjustment is not possible, because of one or both of these design choices: a) coarse thread bolts are used here (vs. fine thread), and/or b) there is only one hole through each of the 4 base mounting bolts for the cotter pin to go through, so the castle nuts can only be made tighter or looser by turning the nut 1/6th of a revolution.
This means that when you lock the hitch down by rotating the handles 90 degrees, that the locked-in position either feels too loose or too tight because 1/6th of a revolution of the nut is too much. If these bolts had a 2nd hole in them (or were fine thread) that would allow a 1/12th of a nut rotation adjustment. Smaller nut height adjustment would also mean a much greater potential of being able to adjust the locking levers to a firm pressure setting.

This is my first run-in with a fifth wheel, so I spent a lot of time researching as many of the aspects as I could. I knew I didn't want to mount bed rails, so the truck was outfitted with the factory in-bed mounts. That allowed the use of this hitch. Using this setup allows for a clear bed floor by merely unpinning and swiveling the four locks on the leg's ends, then lifting the whole mess up and away.
It arrived in two separate boxes: good thing, it's heavy! Knowing that, the individual pieces were placed in the bed where it could be assembled closer to its landing place. The instructions were very clear, and, before we knew it, we had the mount dropped into place.
Connecting to the trailer couldn't be easier. With the lever forward and the yellow dot showing through the status port in front, the truck slides back into place with a satisfying "chunk" as the hitch latches on. Drop the safety pin into the latch, make your connects, give one final tug with the tow vehicle so you know the hitch is properly latched, and off you go! Thanks, etrailer!

by:

So here's my thoughts after installing this unit. First, the unit is made in the USA (according to their website) but al the bolts used are metric. Second, the installation instructions are generic and are mostly for a fixed hitch versus the sliding hitch, so you have to guess on assembly of some items. Also, you pay close to $[XX] for this unit and they go cheap and do not provide any lubricating grease that "they" recommend you apply. $[XX] purchase and could not include 10 cents worth of grease. Finally, the torque specs are listed but the bolt locations are not shown with pictures, just a name which you need to guess. This can be problematic since the torque specs range from 60 ft lbs up to 200ft lbs. Choose the wrong one and you break a bolt off.

Tracking is showing that it has finally arrived. Can you please let me know if the tracking is correct or not? Sometimes, packages will deliver to the wrong address, so I also recommend you contacting your neighbors if you still have not received it to see if they got it in your place.

  • 5TH Wheel Rail Kit and 5TH Wheel Hitches For a 2005 Ford F-350
Depending on what mounts were used to attach to your frame you are going to need either the Curt Universal Rail Kit # C16200 or Curt Custom Fit Rail Kit # C16448-204. The custom fit rail kit uses mounting holes in the frame with custom brackets to connect the above bed rails. While the universal kit requires you to drill holes into the frame below the mounting holes to secure to the frame. You will need to check your frame to see which mounts were used or if they may still be in place....

  • 2018 Ram 2500 5th Wheel Base Rail Kit Recommendation
Thanks for reaching out, Jeff! For standard base rails you'll need the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16427-204 for your 2018 Ram 2500. This is a custom kit so you won't need to drill into the frame of your truck for the installation. Then for a 5th wheel hitch I recommend checking out the Curt A25 Slider # C35DR for a short bed or Fixed # C86BV for a long bed. I really like the A series hitches because they have interlocking jaws and a fully articulating torsion head so...

  • Can A Q25 Fixed Hitch Be Used In A Short Bed 2022 Ram 2500
The Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package # C16049 would fit in a 6-1/2' bed like your 2022 Ram 2500 has, but you're limiting the amount of turning clearance you have and run the risk of the nose of the 5th wheel coming into contact with the cab of the truck when making tight turns. Because of this we typically recommend a sliding hitch to prevent this from happening. For a sliding version of the Q25 you would need parts # C35DR and # C16022. Newer model trailers...

The only way to know how heavy a hitch you need is to find the trailer's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) which is its maximum weight when fully loaded. There's likely a tag on the trailer that states the GVWR, or it may say on the trailer's documentation. You may also be able to contact the trailer manufacturer with the VIN to find its specs from when it was built. As a last resort you can load the trailer and weigh it. You're correct that the only Companions at 25k capacity are for OEM puck systems. B&W is a great brand and is my favorite as well, but in this case they're not going to have anything compatible with with the # BWGNRK1116-5W that's going to have over 20k capacity, so you'll have to look at another brand.
