Updated 02/12/2026 | Published 02/07/2026

Question:

Hello, I am in the process of purchasing a travel trailer for my family. I have a 2025 1/2 ton GMc Sierra and the trailer we are purchasing is a 2026 Forrest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHSW 21’ length, advertised max GVWR 5,575 lbs and an advertised 475lbs hitch weight unloaded I presume. my question is what Weight distribution hitches would you recommend for this setup? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Ryan, I would recommend the Fastway e2 weight distribution system part # FA92-00-0800 for your 2026 Forrest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHSW as it has a 400-800 lb tongue weight rating which would be correct for your setup and also because Fastway makes great WD systems that perform well and are easier to use. Have you used a WD system before?

I have a 2024 Chevy Silverado highcountry with 3.0 diesel and haul a Winne Mini 2108DS he’s GVWR 5500 using Fastway 2 FA92-00-800 and recently drove 2000 miles up through California coastal highways and interstate. It was a breeze, there was absolutely no issues and both vehicles were rock solid, even when I was boxed in by multiple 18 wheelers at 55 to 65 miles per hour. Worked with Etrailer and watched a heck of a lot of you tube videos for setting up and time spent was well worth it. Only real issue I have is I run two vehicles one for wife and I and the other for hunting both rear hitches are different heights requiring multiple setups

@LouL Thanks for the feedback thanks! Have you duplicated portions of the setup so that you can transition from one vehicle to the other easier?

I have a 2024 F-150 XLT that I pull a 23’ trailer with similar weight specs to yours, and this hitch is perfect for that pairing.
