Parts Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2007 Isuzu NPR HD
Question:
I have a 2007 Isuzu NPR HD Diesel truck. I want to wire an electric brake controller for pulling my twin axle trailer. I have no clue where to look or what controller would be best. I have purchased other controllers for my 2005 Dodge ram from your company, and it worked perfectly. Now, I have upgraded to the heavier truck and need your input.

The great thing about brake controllers is that they are not vehicle specific so you can install one on just about anything, including your 2007 Isuzu NPR.
I do not know if your truck has a trailer connector of any kind or not so I will start from the beginning; installing a 4-Way connector. Since there are no custom fit harnesses listed for the truck you will want to use a universal hardwire kit # 119178KIT. I have linked the instructions for you.
Once you have that installed you can install a 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. This provides the 7-Way, retains the 4-Way, and provides the wiring and accessories needed to install a brake controller.
For a brake controller there are time delay and proportional controllers. Time delay controllers cost less and can be mounted any which way. But they do not offer the best performance and can often lead to increased vehicle and trailer wear.
A proportional controller will cost more and has some limitations on mounting but as far as braking and performance there is nothing better. Proportional controllers apply the same amount of braking power to the trailer brakes as the vehicle brakes do for the vehicle.
I reocmmend the P2, # 90885. This is our most popular brake controller because it is easy to set up and use and its reliable.
I have included some links that explain the # ETBC7 installation and on brake controllers in general for you.
