Troubleshooting Compatibility Issues Between EOH Brakes With A Chevy 2500 OEM Brake Controller

Question:

Hello. I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500hd. My trailer dash controller is not working with my EOH brakes on my triple axle boat trailer, which has the discs brake on each wheel. My trailer has the Brake Rite system. Do you have a fix for this? Thanks.

Hey Rod,

I would first check if your OEM brake controller has an EOH mode, if not then you can use Dexter's adapter # DX35FR to help your brake controller communicate with the BrakeRite actuator. The adapters still don't always do a great job and can cause the controller to not accurately function so the best solution would be to install an aftermarket brake controller that is compatible with EOH brakes.

The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR is compatible with EOH brakes and can actuate brakes on up to 3 axles. The control knob takes up minimal space and provides a factory look and with the plug-and-play wire harness # 331-TPH-010 install will be fast and easy. Once installed this will override the OEM brake controller so you won't have to do anything with it.
