Should The Furrion Wall Thermostat Turn Off When Bluetooth Pairing Is Lost?
Question:
Travel trailer unit: Campsite Reserve by Forest River. Subject: Remote controlled Furrion Chill single zone thermostat. Apparently this thermostat requires downloading an app onto a smart phone and then paired with the thermostat. My experience is when the pairing is lost, the thermostat shuts down shortly thereafter. This happens when I pair the phone with something else like the Bluetooth speakers in my unit or leave the camper. Therefore if I leave my campsite with my phone, I will lose AC or heating of my trailer. Unacceptable! Have you heard this issue before, or am I missing something?

I will be honest Gary this is not an issue we have heard of before. The Furrion Wall Thermostat # FR33PR should not be turning off if Bluetooth pairing is lost. It should be staying on and remaining at the last temperature setting. It should work a lot more like the thermostat in your home, and less like a Bluetooth speaker. This makes me wonder if perhaps something else is causing the AC to shut off. Perhaps a setting was changed? Or perhaps the thermostat is positioned too close to the vent, causing it to shut off prematurely. It could be something as simple as that, or there could be a larger underlying issue with the AC system. Your best bet will be to contact Furrion directly so that their techs can go thru troubleshooting steps while you are there with the camper.

Here is what a Furrion agent replied to me: “Good afternoon Gary, Thank you very much for your response. I am attaching more information on the E3 code you had experienced. The thermostat requires a device to be paired and stored in its memory to fulfill a system communication check. Without pairing the system, the check is incomplete, and that causes the loss off communication (E3 code). This issue should not occur again since a device has successfully been paired to the thermostat.“
