Air Bags for 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500 With PullRite SuperGlide 2700

Published 01/16/2025

Question:

I have a 23 silverado 2500hd. Ive installed a pullrite superglide 2700 with a PullRite 2338 Superrail. I pull a rv with a hitch weight of 1,575. What airbag helper springs will work with my setup? Thank you.

Hi James; what kind of 5th wheel do you have? You have the right idea looking at the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label # F2709. Firestone has the best construction for the most reliable air bags.

However, I don't see you needing the 7,500 lb capacity so you can save some money by using the regular Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2613. These have a load-leveling capacity of 5,000 lbs (more than enough for most applications) and are compatible with your PullRite SuperGlide # PUL93RR setup.

I also recommend adding an air compressor like the Air Lift WirelessONE # AL25980. This will allow you to control the air pressure from the cab of your truck no matter where you're traveling. It can be controlled with the included remote or via the app. This is a single path system so it maintains equal pressure between the two air springs.

Hi Robin, The rv is a 2022 5th wheel rockwood 8294bs. Will the hitch bracket interfere with the bag install? Thank you

@James it will not. These air bags are compatible with an in-bed hitch which means the brackets install in a different location.

@RobinH, Why do you recommended the Firestone bags over the airlift bags?

@James sorry about that, I mentioned the construction but didn't go into any real detail. Most notably they are 4 ply vs the 2 ply construction of the Air Lift. This makes them significantly sturdier. If you're out on a campsite or even on the road and something happens to hit/contact them they're far less likely to suffer damage and fail. Also, the air bags are more secure on the end plates. Firestone uses their "time-proven, rolled crimp seal" to keep them securely anchored. A good real world example of the difference between them is what would happen if you put your truck on a lift. If you have the Air Lift bags installed they would rip right off and be ruined. The Firestone air bags have no problem withstanding that kind of force/weight and will be perfectly fine.
