Replacement Hardware for Thule Mountaineer 669

Hi, I got an older Thule Mountaineer Roof Box. Inside is a sticker with production date Oct 2000, so I assume it is the Thule Mountaineer 669 not TT or ES. I am missing the mounting hardware and are a bit confused. Looking on the Thule Website the recommended mounting hardware for the 669 is 1500056394 From your answer it looks like you are recommending TH04997, which seems to correspond to the hardware Thule suggests for the 669TT Could you confirm, why your recommendation for the 669 is different than the one from Thule? I would much prefer the U-Hook and Easy Snap then the wingnuts. Thanks!

I believe there were some changes in the Thule Mountaineer designation as the model continued to be released. The Thule Mountaineer TT or 669TT manufactured from 2005-2008 is the only version of the mountaineer to use the # TH04997. Technically this is a variation of the original hardware but it is the current replacement.
According to Thule, the 669 that was manufactured from 1999-2004 along with the 669ES which ran from 2007-2012 both use the EasySnap. This means you can use the Replacement EasySnap Mounting Hardware # 05704 (1500056394) with your 669 from 2000.
