Replacement Power Switch for RAM 3,500 Tongue Jack

Updated 06/30/2025 | Published 07/15/2023

Question:

I installed a new 3500 lb Ram electric jack . Push the up switch and it goes down . I then push the down switch and it goes down like it should . No ground issue just a switch that only goes down with either the up or down button.

To replace a switch on your RAM 3,500 lb jack you just need the Replacement Power Switch # EJ-3520-PSW, but this also could be a bad internal screw. To determine if it's the switch or the screw you just need to remove the plug on top of the jack and operate it manually. If the jack goes up and down manually then it's the switch, but if it only goes down then the internal screw is bad.

I will say though that if this truly is a brand new jack then I recommend pursuing a warranty on it. Replacing things right off the bat on a brand new piece of equipment isn't a good sign, even if it's produced by a reputable company like RAM. I would just try to get a complete replacement so you know the whole thing will work correctly.

I have the same Ram 3500lb electric tongue jack. My jack would only go down so I replaced the switch and it worked fine. Now it doesn't work at all. I tapped on the switch and it started working but with the same issue it would go down but not up. So what is the issue. I checked my batteries and also my panel inside my trailer they read my batteries are fully charged and my batteries read with my meter 12 volt. What could be the issue ?

@RobertM It sounds like the wiring that goes to the switch might be faulty. What I recommend doing is checking the wiring as well as the connections to make sure everything is in good working order and is properly connected. Let me know what you find!

@JonG So far what I have found is there is power to the switch. What I don't quite understand is when I replaced the switch before it worked fine. I pulled the trailer into a campground for my wive and the jack would go down but not up. Now it won't work at all. It is a four prong switch. This is on a Rockwood Mini-Lite Model 2609S with a RAM 3500 lb electric tongue jack.
