Replacement Spindles, Hubs and Brake Assemblies For Custom Trailer Using Shortened Mobile Home Axles
Question:
I have a trailer that has some shortened mobile home axles under it. So pretty much is has 4 mobile home axles on it. Two on each side. The outside of the axles have hubs and wheels on them but the inside is lacking all of that. Just the spindles. Im needing to know what bearings and hubs, etc to add wheels to the insides of the axles. Ive included a snapshot of one of the spindles. Currently its set up for brakes so I measure everything from there on the spindles and the measurements I gathered are: 2.05 1.76 1.26 0.97

Based on the image you sent of the spindle it looks like you will be best off replacing the spindles with the more common #42 Spindle # TRU37FR. The spindles are severely rusted and the grease seal would not hold seal properly allowing water to get in and damage any hubs you install. It would be best to install this on all the ends of your axles so you will have the common sizes when you need to replace parts as the mobile home axles do not use common parts since they are designed to be thrown away when they are damaged.
To this you will be able to use either the Hub/Drum # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K or Idler Hub # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K depending on how may Brake Assemblies # AKEBRK-7-SA you intend to use. These brakes include one left and one right brake assembly and will bolt up to the 5 bolt mounting flange which is on the #42 spindle linked above.
If you are using a bolt pattern different than the 6 on 5-1/2" I have added parts for please let me know and if you need help finding additional wheels and tires please let me know what size you have and be sure to verify they will also fit mounted on the inside hub positions.
