How Much Weight Can 5,200 Pound Trailer Axles Hold

What total percentage of an axle assemblys rating should I use? For example, lets say I have 4700# or 90 on each of my trailers tandem 5200# axles. If replacing axles, would it be better to go to 6000# axles?

The percent of the rating you can use for your 5,200 lb axle is 100%. The axles on your tandem axle trailer are designed to hold 5,200 lbs each or 10,400 lbs total. As long as you are not exceeding this amount there is no reason to increase axle capacity with the # 7461121.

Also, other components on your trailer, and more than likely the trailer frame, are rated for the same. Even with a higher axle capacity you will be limited by the weakest component. If you're looking for a 95" 5,200 lb replacement axle you can use the # e63GR. This has an 80" spring center but can be adjusted by cutting off the spring seats and welding on # TRSS238 to match your current measurement.
