Parts Needed For Towing a 2023 Coleman 17B Travel Trailer With a 2022 Ford Explorer
Question:
We will be purchasing a 2022/23 Coleman 17B travel trailer. Looking for recommendations on good weight distributing/sway control hitches. Dry weight is about 3100 lbs and tongue weight is about 385 lbs I believe. Assuming a hitch with 400 - 500 pound tongue weight rating is ideal. Towing with a 2022 Explorer XLT with factory tow package. First time towing so pardon any ignorance. Thank you in advance!

I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-0800 for your 2022/2023 Coleman 17B travel trailer. This hitch is rated for a tongue weight of 400-800lbs and a maximum trailer weight of 8,000lbs. With a dry tongue weight of 385lbs by the time they add a 40-50lb battery and the 20lbs of propane you are already up to 450lbs before you add any gear to your trailer. This hitch will help to level your 2022 Ford Explorer as well as reduce trailer sway that is caused by wind on the highway. It will not require you to remove any parts of the hitch when backing up like some other systems.
You will need a 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6100 and 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install the hitch ball.
You will also need a brake controller for your Explorer. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR and you will be able to plug it into the factory connector under your dash using the Wiring Harness # RED87FR. If your Explorer did not come with a 7-way connection or receiver please let me know and I will recommend the best parts to use.

Hi Bud, same trailer but a 2020 Nissan Frontier, would you still suggest same distribution hitch?
