Replacement Cargo Carrier Recommendation For A Sears X-Cargo Sport 20

Question:

The key broke and 1/2 of it is stuck inside of the lock code 2874 of our Sears X-Cargo Sport 20 lock. The little lock doorinch wont stay open for us to pinch the broken key piece. Should the entire lock be replaced? If yes, how do we remove it?

We have had this question before, and I have confirmed with my rep at Thule that the locks on the Sears Sport Cargo Carriers like your Sears X-Cargo Sport 20 Cargo Carrier are not replaceable. Reason being is that those cargo carriers were manufactured with riveted lock assemblies.

So with that being said, your only option if you are unable to get that key out and can't use the lock on your cargo carrier, is to replace the entire cargo carrier.
