Do You Need To Remove The Hub From A Trailer Brake Assembly To Replace The Rotor?

Published 04/15/2022

Question:

Without taking it apart, it appears necessary to remove the hub from the spindle to replace the rotor, is this true? Just trying to gauge how much time this will take for scheduling the trailer to be down. This disk is cracked through and roached on one side. Which leads me to another question, with four rotors, and only one side of one destroyed, is it likely that the caliper needs to be replaced and/or rebuilt? Sticking maybe?

Yes, you will have to remove the hub from the spindle to replace your brake rotors with new rotors like # 070-006-01.

As far as a timeline go, if you're pretty experienced, you can expect this to take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, however if you're not as experienced, you can expect this to take longer.

When it comes to replacing your calipers with the rotors, if your caliper isn't damaged then there is no need to replace it.
