Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Installation for 2022 Toyota Highlander
Question:
HELP! I installed the Tekonsha TK74FR on my 2022 Highlander but it isn't getting power to the 4 flat connector. Did I do something wrong?

If you've securely connected the Tekonsha T-One Wiring # TK74FR to your 2022 Toyota Highlander but you aren't getting any power to the 4-Way then it sounds like your Highlander doesn't have the factory tow package and you needed the T-One Wiring # TK99FR instead which comes with an extra wring piece that activates the tow package wiring on your vehicle.
You can double check whether your Highlander has the tow package or not by calling your local Toyota dealer with your VIN. If you don't have the tow package then you'll need the Wiring Kit # TK99FR but if you do have the tow package then I'd double check your connections and if they look good then you might consider taking your Highlander in to a dealer to have them check out the OEM wiring.

I have a 2022 Highlander XLE. I installed the TK99FR kit and it still did not work. The Highlander needs a fuse for the trailer towing to work, and it is found in the fuse box (labeled) on the passenger side of the engine compartment. If you would like a photo, I can provide it. I used a spare provided in the drivers' side fuse box. 2nd question: I need to find which color wire I should connect for the brake actuation? Need this input to get the trailer brakes to work. Thx, Scott Macdonald
