PSI for ST225/75R15 Load Range E Trailer Tire
Updated 12/17/2020 | Published 12/16/2020 >
Question:
I went from a 225x75R15 load range D to the same size load range E. The trailer states 65 psi. The load range e tires say max psi is 80. What air pressure do you suggest for the load range e tires? I am below max weight by around three thousand pounds. Thank you

Helpful Expert Reply:
For a load range E trailer tire like the Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # TR225LRE, we normally recommend inflating them to the maximum cold psi, which on this tire is 80, like you mentioned, as this will give you the best performance, allowing the tire to wear slower and more evenly.
The 65 psi you mentioned was almost certainly the suggested psi for the Load Range D tires so it wouldn't be a suggestion for load range E tires necessarily. That said, since your tires are overrated by quite a bit, you may experience a bit of bounce, so while there isn't a psi we can give you, what you can do is test the tires out at different inflation levels. I would recommend starting at 80 psi and if that feels too bouncy you can lower the pressure somewhat but generally, we recommend keeping them at the psi listed on the sidewall.
