Updated 06/18/2020 | Published 06/16/2020

Question:

have just sold my old trailer . was a coachmen 25rks with dry weight of about 6000 lbs. had a 800 lb husky round bar 501-800lb weight distribution system. buying a astoria 2773rb with a fully loaded trailer at 9500 lbs . can i just replace the bars or do I have to buy whole new system? I know most people only use part of cargo load so im thinking 8000 or more.

Husky doesn't offer replacement spring bars, so you'd need to replace the system.

The GVWR of your Astoria 2773rb is right at 9500 lbs, as you mentioned. Since a trailer's tongue weight is typically between 10-15% of its fully loaded weight, your tongue weight could range from 9500-1400 lbs, in the worst case. The best thing to do is to conclusively determine your trailer's fully loaded tongue weight. You can use a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044, or one of the other methods mentioned in the article I'll link for you.

I'd recommend you go with the Reese Steadi-Flex, part # RP66561 which is compatible with trailer tongue weights ranging from 700-1400 lbs which would be absolutely perfect for the tongue weight you're looking at. The 2-5/16 trailer ball is sold separately as # 19286.

The # RP66560 is rated for 600-1200 lbs of tongue weight, and might not have enough capacity for your needs.
