Maximum Towing Capacity For A 2.4L L4 2014 Chevrolet Equinox
Question:
If I add a tow package could I tow 2500 lbs with my 4 cyl.

Per the owners manual for the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, the Maximum Trailer Weight with Trailer Brakes is 1,500lbs for both front and all-wheel drive models of 2.4L L4 engines. Only the 3.6L V6 model can exceed the capacity you're looking to tow unfortunately.
One thing to know about towing is that your capacity is always limited by your lowest rated component which is your vehicle in this situation. Even if you added a towing hitch like the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98865 that has a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500lbs and other required accessories to tow 2,500lbs, your vehicle is still not rated for that use due to the engine size.
