Recommendation to Replace Holland 4800SL Gooseneck Jack with Electric Model

Updated 05/14/2019 | Published 05/12/2019

Question:

I am looking to replace my Holland 4800sl spring loaded leg trailer stand with an electric one Is there an electric one that will bolt on the same as the Holland 4800 SL. We are pulling a gooseneck horse trailer.

Based on my research your existing Holland 4800SL jack is very similar to the Bulldog Square Jacks like # BD182815. This particular jack can be used with the Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit # BD1824200100 to convert it to a quiet, electrical system that allows for easy lifting.

The upgrade kit isn't compatible with your Holland unit so you would need to first replace your jack with the Bulldog Square Jack and then add the Powered Drive Kit.

The only issue is that this is a weld-on jack so you would need to cut off your existing brackets and weld the new unit in place on the trailer. We do not have a jack that features the same mounting pattern as your Holland 4800SL.

For a bolt-on jack I recommend taking a look at the Bulldog Velocity # BD185400. This is an extremely nice jack with a single-speed 12V DC motor for fast operation and a built-in clutch that prevents over-extension (which is one of the most common causes of trailer jack failure). It has a 12,000 pound lift capacity, a retracted height of 44.8 inches and an extended height of 69.1 inches.

I have attached a couple video reviews on these products that you can check out as well.
