Supplying Propane to a 150,000 BTU Commercial Deep Fryer
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
WE have a 150,000 BTU commercial deep fryer. Our local propane guy insists we have to have a regulator at the tank to keep things safe. He run the supply line through a 1/4 inch line to the 1/2 inch line on the deep fryer. The commercial fryer has a regulator built in just before the fire assembly. We cant get enough propane through the tank regulator to make the deep fryer work. The manufacturer says no regulator is needed at the tank or if one is present it must allow 150,000 BTU of gas to pass. Do you have any fittings that will help us? In viewing your products, it looks like a green Camco Propane fitting Cam59923 along with a two stage regulator cam59323 would probably take care of my need for my commercial 150,000 BTU fryer. Please give me your thoughts.

For starters, we carry propane accessories for camping equipment and small appliances, not commercial duty deep fryers so we may not have the exact fittings/advice you need. However, I can give fittings/advice based on my experience with the above.
If the deep fryer you are using has a built-in regulator then an additional one at the tank would only cause problems because it further reduces the water columns to a point that the deep fryer would not be able to function. Therefore, I don't recommend using the Camco Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator part # CAM59323.
In regards to the Camco Propane Fitting part # CAM59923, if your propane tank has a male type one (common on 20/30 lb tanks) then you can use this fitting but you would need an extension hose to go from this to your deep fryer. If you can tell me what size/type of fitting is on your deep fryer I would be glad to see if we have the correct extension hose for you.
In regards to the correct size of hose to use, you would need to follow the chart attached below.
