Finding 12V Power Wire at Frame Rail on 2011 Ford Expedition with Factory 4-Way

Hi, I have purchased the Tekonsha Prodigy 2, and the ETBC7 for an install on my Volvo xc90 for towing a trailer. I got a new car for towing my travel trailer which is the 2011 Ford Expedition. I want to use the Prodigy 2 brake controller for this new vehicle. Looking on your website I saw that I will need the #3035-P adapter that will plug into the factory installed brake controller plug. This plug I verified and it has power to it. In the back of the Expedition I have a 4 pole harness with only a blue wire, no black wire. Reading your other replies to similar questions I learned that the blue wire is the break controller power signal to the trailer. With that being said I am trying to locate the black wire that would charge the trailers battery/connect to the 7 pole black wire, but there is no black wire in the back! What do I do in this situation? Do I just use a single 10 gauge wire with a 40 amp circuit breaker part #PK54540 and run it to the car battery in the front of the vehicle? Or I need to completely hardwire the breaker controller with part #10-2-1? Thank you.

For your 2011 Ford Expedition with 4-way flat, the wiring harness # 3035-P is a fit to allow you to install your Prodigy P2 brake controller # 90885. The blue brake output wire you found is the correct fit and you should also have the 12V power wire along the rear frame rail. There should be an orange wire for the 12V power to connect to your black power wire on your connector. If this wire is not present, then I recommend testing the wires in that location for 12V power using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. If you can't determine the 12V power wire, you can run a # 12-1-1 wire or # 10-1-1 wire to your battery using circuit breaker # 9510 in your engine bay in-line with that wire as outlined in the # ETBC7 Kit.
