Question:
I see the trailer tow capacity is 6200 lbs. with a factory installed Trailer Tow Package. How is that effected if my Jeep does not have one and I install an aftermarket tow package? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The maximum gross trailer weight (GTW) you can tow with your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.6L V6 engine is 6,200 lbs for models both with and without the factory tow package. The factory tow package will not increase the towing capacity of your vehicle. Most factory tow package's included a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and transmission cooler.
If you would like to added these components to better suit your vehicle for towing then you can use part # 75699 for the hitch, part # 118727 for the wiring harness, and part # D13503 for the cooler. The hitch as you can see in the attached install video will not require any cutting or drilling to install. The wiring harness is also very easy to install which is almost a completely plug and play option. The transmission cooler on the other hand will be a bit more difficult to install but is certainly not undoable.
If your trailer has brakes then you will need a brake controller like part # 90195 as well as a 4 to 7-way adapter like part # ETBC7. This process will require cutting/splicing but there will be no other option if your trailer has brakes.
