Transferring a Trailer Hitch From a 2008 Honda Odyssey to a 2012 Honda Odysssey.
Question:
I purchased a Draw-Tite hitch for my wife’s 2008 Honda Odyssey back in 2016 to replace one that had been damaged in a minor accident. We just purchased a 2012 Odyssey. Can I swap the hitch from the old van to the new one? In looking at new hitches, it appears they are the same part number for both model vans. I know I’ll need to get a new wiring harness.

Both Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches, part # 75270 and # 36417, are compatible with the 2012 Honda Odyssey. I recommend checking the bolts and bolt holes for wear prior to transferring to the 2012, and ensuring that there isn't any damage, cracks or severe rust on the hitch.
For a wiring harness, I recommend Curt's T-Connector, part # C56378. This installs into the existing wiring in your taillights to quickly add a 4-pole connector. I've included a video of the Tow Ready kit, part # 118521 being installed on a 2012 Honda Odyssey so you can get an idea of how to install it on your new vehicle.
