Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, open your fuse box and locate the fuse positions indicated in the instructions. Then insert the included fuses.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector can be stored in an out of the way area of the cargo area of your vehicle when not in use.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Honda Odyssey

Today on our 2016 Honda Odyssey, we'll be taking a look at and showing you how to install the T-One vehicle wiring harness with 4-Pole flat trailer connector, part number 118521. When it's not in use, you're just going to bundle it up. You can actually use the cover to help hold your wires together and just leave it down inside this trough here. When you are ready to use it, pull out the amount that you're going to need to reach down to your trailer. Now when you're laying it over this edge here, you want to make sure you stay away from the latch so you don't pinch your wires and cause any damage. It'll be fine to go over top of this weather strip, just pinch it in there and hold it and move it around. We can close our hatch over top of it and it will be ready to hitch it up to our trailer.

Now after you've used it, just simple open your hatch back up and you can just fold away your wires. You can either store it in this pocket here, or you can just leave it down inside the trough. One nice feature about this modular light is it's going to take all of the load off of your vehicles wiring system and apply it to that box that we've mounted in there, so if you have any back feeding from your trailer, it's not going to damage your vehicles electrical system. Here is what the kit is going to consist of. We're going to have our module box, we're going to have our T-One connector that is going to fit in line, it's going to plug into our factory fuse box in the back of the vehicle. If there is something in there already, you can go ahead and plug that in between, so this will go into the fuse box and whatever is plugged into it will T into this side.

This will plug into the back of our module box. We're going to have our 4 Flat trailer connector with our weather tight cap and some fuses to go into our fuse box. Now our first step is going to remove this rear sill plate. There are going to be 2 tie downs, attachment points here. I'm going to loosen them up, a long thread that will go inside and we'll take out both of those nuts. We can take our panel tool or our flat blade screwdriver.

We're just going to pop this up. You can see we got clips all across the bottom side there, so we'll just set this aside. We're also going to need to gain access behind here to get to our fuse box, which we will take the cover off for now. Just pry this out. Now you can see we have our fuse box. We will have another set of cargo holders right here.

The cargo holder, you can take it off as well and we need to pry this out. We'll take our T-One connector with the 2 plugs and we're going to slip it around the back side here and pull it out through the cover on our fuse panel. Now on the bottom part of our fuse panel, we have a large outlet right here and that is where this is going to snap into. Now if you already have something plugged in there, you can just remove it and put it into the female side of our T-One connector and then we'll snap this into the fuse box. You're going to feel it just click and just give it a tug to make sure it's sitting in position. Now if we're not going to use this, we're just going to tuck it down out of the way and we'll take our module light box and we're going to plug it in and listen for the click and give it a little tug to make sure it's nice and tight. Now it's got 2-sided tape on the back of our box. We'll just peel it off and we're going to stuff it up inside here and make it nice and secure. The last thing we're going to have to do is we're going to have to ground this. I'll take our supplied self tapping screw and we're going to go into this doubled up sheet metal here. It's nice and secure. We can start reassembling our panels. We're going to run this down the bottom side here. It's just going to drop out and we'll re-secure our weather stripping. Now we can reinstall our cargo net tie down point. We'll take our steel plate and we'll lay it back over the top. We can pull our weather stripping out of the way, then we can reinstall our cargo tie downs. Now we're going to add 3 fuses to install on our fuse box. First one is going to be an 10 amp fuse, it's going to go into position 8, which is the furthest one forward. Let's take that and snap it into place. Make sure it's nice and tight. Now we're going to have 2 7.5 amp fuses. Ones going to go into position 2, which is the second one from the rear on the same row. I'm going to have one in position 11, which will be the third from the rear. That is another 7.5 amp. Now we can reinstall our cover and we're ready to test our system. We've been using the Curt 4-Flat Trailer tester, part number I26, it's available on our website. We'll go ahead and test our marker lights, our tail lights first. Our left turn signal, followed by our right and our brake. Should have 2 red lights. Perfect, everything works, we're ready to go. That's going to do it for our look at and install of the T-One vehicle wiring harness with 4-Pole flat trailer connector, part number 118521 on our 2016 Honda Odyssey.

Great product and worked perfectly. A little hard to install because of the vehicle configuration and space, especially for my big hands and arms. The YouTube mechanic must have been an elf. Also, instructions and YouTube gloss over the grounding wire attachment and that proved to be the hardest task trying to reach behind the trim panel with a wrench. Great product. Just know installation probably won't be quite as fast an easy as the I instructions and videos make it seem. 567704

Well it installed fine but the controller for the lights seems to have an issue at night when the car's lights are on. It blinks both sides when using the blinker and the headlights are on. Luckily I haven't had to drive much at night so I didn't even figure out there was a problem for a few months. To be clear the blinker works fine when the headlights are not on. 411141

All pretty easy but the video directions dont share that you need to add the fuses to the wiring panel. The paper directions are worthless. I was convinced this product was defective until a mechanic friend helped me figure out the fuses 568862

The video for the installation of this wiring harness on a 2016 Odyssey shows the installation of the fuses near the end of the video at the 5:15 mark. This is also addressed in the installation instructions in Step 9 and the fuse locations are shown in Figure E. Ive linked the install video below.

This was the easiest wiring harness installation I have ever completed. Just follow etrailer's Utube video and you can't go wrong. I completed the installation in less than 20 minutes and everything worked correctly the first time. I would recommend this installation to even novices with tools. 187071

I recently purchased a trailer wiring harness for my Honda Odyssey. I must say I have never been more pleased in an internet transaction. The order process was simple and straightforward, the part was delivered promptly, it was exactly as described, and the video on the website made installing it a snap. I have installed trailer lights on my vehicles before where I had to tear up the floorboards and run wires clear up to the battery, etc. I had this one installed in 15 minutes tops with a screwdriver and one socket. Excellent! 135549

I am still well pleased with my wiring kit after a year. It has continued to work flawlessly. When I get a new vehicle and require another harness I will certainly buy from you guys again.

The product worked as advertised, but the installation did not. I have a 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite. This model has the HondaVac, a 12 volt power plug, and a subwoofer on the panel that must be removed to follow the instructions. Unfortunately, the video and paper instructions show a base model and do not explain how to remove these optional items. I'm fairly mechanical and could not figure out how to remove them without damaging something. I only tow once or twice per year, so I decided on a temporary solution where I plug in the harness and ground it to one of the threshold plate cargo net hooks. Speaking of those, I found it almost impossible not to mar the plastic, even with a washcloth between them and the wrench. You may want to try a strap wrench or rubber padded wrench. I towed a u-haul cargo trailer with this setup for three hours on a mix of country, subdivision, and interstate roads with no issues. My only concern was the quality of the grounding connection, but the bolt and grounding tab appear to touch the frame. 111054

I just got off the phone with my contact at Tow Ready. I will put him in touch with you to get the harness straightened out.

No change after a year. My temporary solution remains sufficient for my once a year towing needs. If someone owns an Odyssey with the HondaVac and wants a clean trailer hitch and lighting install, I recommend getting it done through your Honda dealer. If you have a lower trim level without the HondaVac this kit is a cheaper DIY alternative.

Background: I own a 2014 Honda Odyssey and installed a Honda factory hitch instead of an aftermarket one for 2 main reasons. 1. The receiver is higher from the ground than most aftermarket hitches. This was important to me after reading reviews from people towing heavy loads with their Odyssey complaining about the ball mount being too close to the ground. 2. Most of the hitch is hidden behind the bumper cover versus being totally exposed going under the bumper cover; like on my other Hondas. I would have ordered the Honda wiring harness for its plug and play properties, but being only 4 pole (I needed 5 pole), it still would have needed adapting and it was considerably more expensive. This product exceeded my expectations for several reasons. 1. It was plug and play just like the factory harness. It was less than half the price of OEM. 3. The video for installation was done exceedingly well. 4. The spare white connector, that was not used in the video, was the perfect place to connect the extra wire I needed to operate the solenoid for the surge brakes on my trailer. (no need to cut and splice). Highly recommend this harness especially if needing to add an extra wire to be energized when the backup lights come on. 272955

I was surprised on how easy it was to install my new trailer hitch wiring harness. It only takes a few minutes. I went a step further then the install directions told me to go. I ran the wiring harness behind the rear trim panel. I lifted up the weather stripping that is clipped over the rear body welds (outer panel to inner panel). Then just to the left luggage lid latch sticker cut a notch out from where the panels were welded to fit the size of the wire. Very carefully pry up the rear bumper with a screw driver and insert the wiring harness between the rear bumper and rear body panel. I attached a wire to the wiring harness wire and then ran the wire down until it came out at the bottom of the rear bumper and then pulled the wiring harness through. I then pulled enough of the wiring harness through to reach the trailer hitch and then using a tie tie attached the harness to the trailer hitch. Then I replaced the weather strip and the inside rear trim panel. Now the wiring harness is all concealed. 470591

Well manufactured and extremely easy to install unit for this 73 year old man with limited motion due to arthritis. Watched the installation video once before deciding to purchase this wiring kit. After kit arrival, I took my computer and set it in the 2013 Honda Odyssey rear seat, then began installation - paused the video after each step of the installation process was completed. Was a one hour job, to include cutting (and later splicing with crimped connectors in rear well) the wires to enable them to pass through the rubber plug (in which I drilled a 3/8 inch hole) that would be used for a factory unit. I drilled a 3/8 inch hole under the rear bottom edge of the plastic bumper for the wire so the "pig tail" would be four inches to the left of the hitch receiver. Tested current/lights after installation and all was perfect. The third unit of this type that I have installed (first two with written instructions only) on older Hondas and a Toyota. This installation was by far the friendliest and easiest of all. Thanks for a great product shipped expeditiously, with clear instructions and a competitive price. 120120

My husband and out good friend installed this onto our 2016 Honda Odyssey. Instructions stated it would take 2 hours and it was spot on. The guys said it was a very easy install. They only ran into 1 pesky bolt that took a while to cooperate. We are using this product for the purposes of hauling extra items on our trek across the United States as we make a big move. So far the product has held up great! We have 2 large filled suitcases, a large plastic tote filled, and another box filled on the cargo rack which we purchased separately. We have had no issues with rattling or inability to handle our load. We chose expedited shipping and it arrived when it said it would and the box was very well handled. I would definitely purchase through the company again. 661733

The customer service was great! Both Teresa J and Odelia were very kind and helpful. They seemed to to be in good spirits and enjoy their jobs. They helped me with my order and my concerns. The draw tite hitch was easy to put on. You will need help lifting it in place since it is heavy. The video on how to install it on a 2012 Honda Odyssey was very helpful although I did need to unscrew 3 additional screws holding the bottom cover to the mud flap. I was a little concerned to find that the hitch had a few scratches and scrapes on a corner. I called and Odelia had advised me that it is not uncommon since the products arrive to their location unpackaged and piled on one another. I decided to keep it and just paint the corner with rustolium spray paint. Overall the product looks good and seems to be of good quality. The wiring harness was easy to put on. The video was spot on. The videos for both products are extremely helpful. 657444

"Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)". Not exactly. The module that comes with this kit seems intended to multiplex the signal and brake lights to work for trailers within only 2 lights (i.e. the same lights are used for signal and tail lights). The 3rd wire on my harness (for tail/brake) does not receive power when the brakes are pressed. However the left and right signal do receive constant power. This is fine if you are towing a simple trailer with only 2 lights. However, I tried to make this work with a 7 pin adapter for an RV, which has separate signal and tail lights. At this point, I'm going to have to scrap the module and splice some relays into the fuse box connector to make it behave how I need it to. 619146

Plugged right in to the factory fuse panel... clearly the van was designed for such a configuration. No cutting or splicing. Routing the wires and mounting to the grounding point was annoying because the panel couldn't be completely removed easily. I used a 1" hole saw to cut a hole on top of the plastic "cubby" storage on the driver's side. Through there, the flat-4 wire came out of the panel, making a convenient place to store it when not in use. 583872

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions...

  • Recommended 2011 Honda Odyssey Transmission Cooler And Thermostat
  • For your 2011 Honda Odyssey, the transmission cooler I recommend is the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient # D13503. This is a plate-fin cooler with furnace-brazed aluminum construction and 3/4 inch wide turbulator plates for more efficient cooling. I recommend Derale thermostat # D13011 with mounting bracket # D25793, and extra hose # D13016 for this installation. The thermostat will allow 90 percent of the fluid to bypass the...

  • Trailer Hitch Interference with Backup Sensors on 2012 Honda Odyssey Touring
  • Draw-Tite 2-inch hitch # 76025 is a confirmed fit on your 2012 Honda Odyssey. This and the other 2-inch hitch options for the car are shown on the linked page. The hitch I suggest over the one you referenced is the Draw-Tite # 75270. This offers a lower price, higher weight capacity and a substantially easier installation. It's cross tube will be visible under the rear bumper, but if that cosmetic difference is not critical, go for the # 75270 for the easier install. A video is linked for...

  • Comparing Curt and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for a 2015 Honda Odyssey
  • Curt decided not to design hitch # C13068 to account for those welded on pieces you referenced in order to maximize the size of the side hitch brackets. As to why they chose to go with a 5 bolt design I can't say. The Draw-Tite hitch # 75270 sounds like it is what you would like more since it accounts for those welded on pieces and attaches in 6 places. If it were me I would go with Draw-Tite hitch # 76025 for the 2015 Honda Odyssey because with it only the receiver is visible. Installation...

  • Towing Capacity of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76025 With 2014 Honda Odyssey
  • You can tow a trailer with your 2014 Honda Odyssey and Draw-Tite hitch # 76025, but the total loaded trailer capacity of your Odyssey is something that depends on variables that you will need to take a look at in your owner's manual. For example, the most a loaded trailer could weigh is 3,350 lbs if your Odyssey has a transmission cooler such as # D13503, and is loaded with three 150 lb occupants that each have 15 lbs of cargo. Along with the aforementioned transmission cooler you also...

  • Brake Controller Installation On A 2015 Honda Odyssey
  • You absolute can install a brake controller in a 2015 Honda Odyssey, but it will involve splicing. This is not difficult at all, so I don't know why your installer wasn't willing. We do this all the time and create videos so you can do it at home if you wish. I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it is an easy to use and understand brake controller, but you can use any brake controller if you have a different preference. Then you will use the Universal Installation...

  • The towing parts that you mentioned for the 2015 Honda Odyssey will indeed also fit and work great on your 2016 model Odyssey. Starting with the trailer hitch, the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75270 is a great choice. This Class III hitch will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation and will provide you with a 2 inch receiver that has a 4,500 pound towing weight capacity. Just note that you will also want to verify the Odyssey's capacity...

  • Winnebago's 2017 Micro Minnie 1700BH single axle travel trailer has a gross weight (GVWR) of 3800-lbs which is the most the trailer can weigh when loaded up for a trip. This means full water and propane tanks, all your food and supplies in place, etc. The towing spec for the 2015 Honda Odyssey shows a maximum allowable trailer weight of 3500-lbs. This towing capacity presumes the car has only 2 occupants and the capacity drops as more passengers and cargo are added to the vehicle. If...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch, Wiring, and Transmission Cooler for 2015 Honda Odyssey
  • Starting with the trailer hitch for your 2015 Honda Odyssey I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III # 75270 because of its robust capacities (4,500 pounds towing and 675 pounds of tongue weight) indicating a stronger unit along with its simple installation process that just requires lining up the hitch to existing holes in the Odyssey's frame. I have attached an installation video on the 2015 Odyssey that you can use for reference. Then for trailer wiring the Tekonsha T-One # 118521...

  • Curt Trailer Wiring Harness Does Not have Power on a 2016 Honda Odyssey
  • There are a couple of things to check with the installation of Curt trailer wiring harness # C56378 on your 2016 Honda Odyssey. First, make sure the fuse is installed in the red power wire. If it is installed make sure that the fuse is good and replace if needed. Also make sure that the white ground wire is attached to a bare metal surface. Next check that the second fuse is installed in the proper location and that it is not blown and move/replace if needed. According to the instructions:...

If the towing capacity in your Odyssey owner's manual is lower that the capacity of this hitch, tow according to the weight limits in your manual. With that in mind there are a number of components you will need, starting with a hitch. • The easiest way to install a 4-way bracket to the Draw Tite hitch part # 76025 that you referenced is the 4-Flat Mounting Bracket part # 118149 which uses zip ties to secure to the hitch tube. Since you don't want to drill into the crosstube of the hitch if you wanted to use a drill bracket like the # BK4F you certainly could but it would need to attach to the lower rear bumper area. Do note this trailer's GVWR, (gross vehicle weight rating, the most it can ever weigh when loaded) is 3750-lbs.
