Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, open your fuse box and locate the fuse positions indicated in the instructions. Then insert the included fuses.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector can be stored in an out of the way area of the cargo area of your vehicle when not in use.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Honda Odyssey

Today on this 2011 Honda Odyssey were going to install part number 118521 from Tow Ready. The first thing you need to get inside the vehicle. All right. Now you have to take the seats and get them out of our way. I like to remove the threshold right here. We remove this fastener here and theres one on the other side.

Well just put some paper towel over it and grab it with some pliers and just unbolt it. Now the snap fittings underneath here weve just got to pop them up a little bit to break them free. Theres also some fittings on the inside underneath as well.Well need access to the fuse panel, which is right here, so well remove the lid. Were also going to need access behind the whole panel as well, so well go ahead and unbolt this fastener, and just pop it out just a little bit. Were going to take our T1 connector with the white end. Were going to route it underneath the plastic and up to your fuse panel.

If the vehicle is equipped with a sensory backup sensors, well unplug the sensor harness 14-pin connector from the rear fuse box connector, and then plug the backup sensor harness into the other mating T connector end. In this case we dont have to worry about that. Well plug it straight into the fuse panel. Next well go ahead and hook up our white wire. Well be using the ground stud thats located toward the back door in the corner underneath the taillight on the drivers side. With this inaudible 0:01:28:3 connector well actually install the module.

It will hide its whole assembly behind the plastic. Route this behind this first. Leave a four pull hanging out underneath the plastic and then from the other side well install the module. Well just attach it to the sheet metal on either side.Next we need to install some fuses that come with the kit. Well start with a 10-amp fuse and well install it into the rear fuse box in position number eight.

Position number two and 11 also get fuses. This will be number 11 right here. At this point we can go ahead and test our wiring with a wire tester at the four pull end, make sure everything works. Were going to go head and reinstall all the interior components. When you put the interior components together make sure your wire stays on the inside and into the well here. Thats where it will stay when youre not using it. It also looks like you can actually take the wires and you can have room back here you can possibly tuck them all inside and store a four pull right here. When you do need to use it, just pull it out, pull it up to your hitch and shut the hatch on it. Just make sure you stay away from the center latch so it doesnt get pinched. inaudible 0:02:57:8 right here and shut the hatch. Then you pull out what you need down to your trailer. With that, thatll finish our install of part number 118521 from Tow-Ready on our 2011 Honda Odyssey.

This was the easiest wiring harness installation I have ever completed. Just follow etrailer's Utube video and you can't go wrong. I completed the installation in less than 20 minutes and everything worked correctly the first time. I would recommend this installation to even novices with tools. 187071

Well it installed fine but the controller for the lights seems to have an issue at night when the car's lights are on. It blinks both sides when using the blinker and the headlights are on. Luckily I haven't had to drive much at night so I didn't even figure out there was a problem for a few months. To be clear the blinker works fine when the headlights are not on. 411141

This trailer wiring harness is easy to install. Simple plug-in connections and a link to ground are involved. The directions that come with the product are well written and illustrated. etrailer is a very good company to buy from. Communication has always been excellent and delivery on time. 186027

All pretty easy but the video directions dont share that you need to add the fuses to the wiring panel. The paper directions are worthless. I was convinced this product was defective until a mechanic friend helped me figure out the fuses 568862

The video for the installation of this wiring harness on a 2016 Odyssey shows the installation of the fuses near the end of the video at the 5:15 mark. This is also addressed in the installation instructions in Step 9 and the fuse locations are shown in Figure E. Ive linked the install video below.

Great product and worked perfectly. A little hard to install because of the vehicle configuration and space, especially for my big hands and arms. The YouTube mechanic must have been an elf. Also, instructions and YouTube gloss over the grounding wire attachment and that proved to be the hardest task trying to reach behind the trim panel with a wrench. Great product. Just know installation probably won't be quite as fast an easy as the I instructions and videos make it seem. 567704

The product worked as advertised, but the installation did not. I have a 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite. This model has the HondaVac, a 12 volt power plug, and a subwoofer on the panel that must be removed to follow the instructions. Unfortunately, the video and paper instructions show a base model and do not explain how to remove these optional items. I'm fairly mechanical and could not figure out how to remove them without damaging something. I only tow once or twice per year, so I decided on a temporary solution where I plug in the harness and ground it to one of the threshold plate cargo net hooks. Speaking of those, I found it almost impossible not to mar the plastic, even with a washcloth between them and the wrench. You may want to try a strap wrench or rubber padded wrench. I towed a u-haul cargo trailer with this setup for three hours on a mix of country, subdivision, and interstate roads with no issues. My only concern was the quality of the grounding connection, but the bolt and grounding tab appear to touch the frame. 111054

No change after a year. My temporary solution remains sufficient for my once a year towing needs. If someone owns an Odyssey with the HondaVac and wants a clean trailer hitch and lighting install, I recommend getting it done through your Honda dealer. If you have a lower trim level without the HondaVac this kit is a cheaper DIY alternative.

2014 Honda Odyssey

Background: I own a 2014 Honda Odyssey and installed a Honda factory hitch instead of an aftermarket one for 2 main reasons. 1. The receiver is higher from the ground than most aftermarket hitches. This was important to me after reading reviews from people towing heavy loads with their Odyssey complaining about the ball mount being too close to the ground. 2. Most of the hitch is hidden behind the bumper cover versus being totally exposed going under the bumper cover; like on my other Hondas. I would have ordered the Honda wiring harness for its plug and play properties, but being only 4 pole (I needed 5 pole), it still would have needed adapting and it was considerably more expensive. This product exceeded my expectations for several reasons. 1. It was plug and play just like the factory harness. It was less than half the price of OEM. 3. The video for installation was done exceedingly well. 4. The spare white connector, that was not used in the video, was the perfect place to connect the extra wire I needed to operate the solenoid for the surge brakes on my trailer. (no need to cut and splice). Highly recommend this harness especially if needing to add an extra wire to be energized when the backup lights come on. 272955

I recently purchased a trailer wiring harness for my Honda Odyssey. I must say I have never been more pleased in an internet transaction. The order process was simple and straightforward, the part was delivered promptly, it was exactly as described, and the video on the website made installing it a snap. I have installed trailer lights on my vehicles before where I had to tear up the floorboards and run wires clear up to the battery, etc. I had this one installed in 15 minutes tops with a screwdriver and one socket. Excellent! 135549

Great hitch! Just installed it this morning and it went beautifully! I am impressed with the quality of the hitch and how easy it was to install even laying on my back in the driveway and I'm 73, have terrible arthritis and a heart condition!!! And the inclusion of the "Fish" was so welcome as I figured I'd screw that up if given half a chance and it went so smoothly I was suuuure I had made a mistake somewhere as I usually do!! This will help me achieve my dream of towing my Harley Trike to Natchez Trace and just having, not only a great, but extremely spiritual experience. So thanks and I would recommend you guys to anyone 716003

This Tekonsha T-one harness with control module really works great, is super easy to install and you can't beat the price at etrailer. But because of a problem I had with water ingress into the control box, I wanted to share with potential buyers a different mounting solution that will avoid what happened to me. I initially installed one of these 3 years ago in our 2013 Odyssey along with a new vehicle side connector. It worked great until last fall when our trailer lights started doing strange things. Thinking this was a ground fault I disassembled the connector and cleaned all the contacts, but it didn't solve the problem. Then I installed a brand new connector, but I still had the same problem. Then I retraced the T-one harness and found the control module full of water and the circuit board fried of course. I installed it in a way that it was hanging down into the cavity behind the interior panel (much like another customer here shows it in his photos). Somehow, water was able to find it's way in it. Now I installed a new Tekonsha T-one harness and everything is working great again, but I chose a different location for the control box. I used double sided tape to glue it onto the upper compartment of the interior panel. This way it will hopefully not be exposed to any water that might drip down. It is also angled slightly upward, so that any moisture should drip off instead of running into it. The harness is long enough to allow for this with the exception of the ground cable. But a 12" extension will do the trick. I hope the photos are clear enough to show all this. Hopefully someone finds this information useful. 711860

This wiring harness is perfectly match for the vehicle with a plug and play feature. The hardest install portion is getting access to the area for routing. I must admit this is the second time I purchased this harness, because after about 4 years the converter box stopped converting. By purchasing this set again I was able to unplug the the bad converter and insert the new one. If i could have bought just the converter I would have done so but could not find a source for the individual component.. 683407

  • 7-Way Recommendation for 2013 Honda Odyssey
The only way we offer to install a 7-way in your 2013 Honda Odyssey is with an adapter like part # ETBC7 as there isn't a direct plug in harness available. You will want to inspect the trailer wiring and look for any pinched or sandwiched wires, frayed wires touching bare metal, or corrosion at connection points and fix as needed. If the fuse is blowing without the trailer connected then there may be a bent or broken pin on the wiring harness connectors or where it plugs into the van. A bent or broken pin on the harness would mean...

  • How to Turn Off Back Up Sensors on 2014 Honda Odyssey
As for the installation of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118521 , if there is no plug already in the 14 pin socket that's ok. You'll still want to plug the harness into that 14 pin plug and just leave the other end unplugged. When it comes to your parking sensors, the Honda Odyssey parking sensors are only active when the car is traveling less than 10 mph. There are four sensors located on your car. The sensors at the corners of your vehicle have a range of 24 inches. The sensors...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe
Our understanding has been that only the SE model 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe has the tow package and would be compatible with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118521. So no, the ports on your GLS would not be active. For a wiring harness for your vehicle without the tow package that will still install pretty easily check out the Curt Wiring Harness part # C56078. These just plug inline with your vehicle taillights to install. I attached install instructions.

  • Accessory 12V Connection for 2019 Honda Odyssey to Use 400-Watt Inverter
A 12V circuit rated for 40-amps typically needs heavier wire, usually 10-gauge, such as what we include in our 7-way kit # ETBC7. This kit has all the parts needed to upgrade 4-pole flat trailer wiring like # 118521 (the item you referenced) to the 7-way format that includes the auxiliary 12V power circuit for things like operating a powered trailer tongue jack like # EJ-3520-BBX. We do offer a 12V Outlet Kit # RM-9332, if that is the type of connector you need, but please note that...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2019 Honda Odyssey
There was a big enough change between the 2017 and 2018 Honda Odysseys that Tekonsha and the other trailer wiring manufacturers had to come up with a new design. That means that the kit you have from your 2015 model would not fit and you'd need the part # 118753 for your 2019 Odyssey. I attached an install video for this kit for you to check out on a similar 2018 model as well.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Right Stop/Turn Signal not Functioning on a 2011 Honda Odyssey 4-Way
The first place I would check is the rear fuse panel on your 2011 Honda Odyssey. It sounds like you blew a fuse so checking the condition of the fuses required to install the Tow Ready Wiring Harness part # 118521 is a logical solution. You will want to check the condition of the 10 amp fuse that's in the number 8 position of the rear fuse box as well as the 7.5 amp fuses in the number 2 and 11 position. Fast forward to the 2:00 minute mark of the video I attached to see where these...

  • 4 to 5-Pole Trailer Connector Adapter # 20036 Needed for Boat Trailer Towed by 2012 Honda Odyssey
We have exactly what you are looking for. The 4 to 5-Pole Adapter, part # 20036 would plug into the connector on your boat trailer. The other end of the harness plugs into your existing 4-pole with an additional lead that is tapped into the reverse light circuit of your Odyssey. When the Odyssey is shifted into reverse the signal is sent to the reverse lock-out in your trailer coupler, releasing your trailer brakes. To see an install video, click on the provided link.

  • How to Test to See if the Module is Bad on the T-One # 118521 for a 2014 Honda Odyssey
It is possible that the module on your Tekonsha T-One # 118521 for your 2014 Honda Odyssey has gone bad. You can verify this by using a Circuit Tester, like part # 40376, and testing the wiring on both sides of the converter to see if power is getting through or not. If it isn't then you will want to replace the T-One. I recommend replacing it with the same part as we have found the Tekonsha electronics to be very reliable. If you are getting power from the functions to the 4-Way let...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2016 Honda Odyssey

Of all the brands of trailer wiring harnesses this is the one that is the most reliable we have found. I attached an install video that shows this installing on a 2016 Odyssey just like yours as well.
